Pat, I find it interesting that the two of us can recall that beach front house during its earlier days. I do recall that the small rooms were simply full of weights and weight related equipment with no furniture whatsoever.

Was that house ever used as a residence?

It's real estate value today must be in the millions regardless of its age and condition.

The Fisher brothers? Was one of them DAVE?

Does the name Rick Stephenson (forgotten bodybuilder ...Pacific Beach) sound familiar?

Hello Stunt,

At one time all of the homes along the boardwalk from Pacific beach to South Mission beach were small cottages. Belmont park was built in 1925, so I am sure that attracted the tourist business' and shops around the park. About 10 years ago I used to go down once a week and walk from Chrystal Pier to the South MB jetty. I think there were 5 or 6 original homes left and one triple lot. All the rest had been converted or rebuilt in 3 story condos. The beach side is far more expensive than the bay side, my best guess is that on condo facing the beach is worth at least $1.5M. And someone once said, buy any and all beach front property you can get your hands on, they stopped making it a long time ago!

The Fisher brothers that owned a Gold's here in the east county were Paul and Steve.

I have heard the name Rick Stephenson, must have been connected to the Paul Edney's Gold's in PB.?

Ron Hutchinson, trained at Mr. Fisher's for awhile.
Ray Routledge, at "Stern's boy".
Eddie Silvestre, TJ gym owner/ hosted the Mr. U one year and Stern' boy.
Rob Reis, I believe he spent time @ Leo's.
Bob Schry, infamous for his past deeds in SD.
Ty Young, won Mr. Yorton's Natural contests (am/pro)
Jesse Lujan, A NPC guy, trained at Grossmont College when I was there (non students got kicked out of the campus gym and went to Valley Barbell Club.)

Did Eddie S. ever promote an IFBB contest in TJ? Some good stories in that one.

I didnt know Steve had a problem with Booze - Meet him a few times back in the day
seemed a decent bloke.

As for Grant - Thought he would go on and do really well - Loads of tissue on alight frame
Looked like he had hollow bones to carry so much muscle at such relatively light weight.

From what i was told by He only ever went to gym & trained if he had loads of gear in him,
Apparently he didn't have much £ income & wouldn't go to gym.

I am having a problem pulling up the link you provided but I think that was the same year that good friends of mine entered and which Bob Birdsong won. Some interesting shit occurred that day. BETHERE, I don't recall seeing that post and I had forgotten that Dale had ever entered the Olympia nor what he looked like at that time.

But here's a photo of Dale when he won the first national contest sanctioned by the NPC ... I think it was the 1982 Mr. USA Contest.

So Dale goes down in history as the 1st NPC National Title holder. (If I'm not mistaken!)

Apparently he has not been forgotten.

I remember Dale being named "the man with the hollow bones" because despite being around 5 feet 8 he weighed only 176 lbs or so when he appeared to look closer to 200 lbs.
