Sorry for a weird question, but did Grant have a Welsh accent?  As he looks really familiar to me so I was wondering if I'd met him?

yes he was from wales - Not sure what area.

Wasn't sure whether to bump this thread or drop this in the NABBA thread.  But as a registered old fart the stench of nostalgia drew me here like a dog returning to its own vomit...

A Mr U winner from the mid '90s that I haven't thought about in a long time - John Terilli

Gerard DENTE. Although still a relevant name, people rarely talk about his bbing career and how good he was.

Which, to the rest of the non-American world, may suggest that his name is correctly pronounced as, "Jur-ard Don-tay", no..?

(As opposed to the apparent proto-European pronunciation of "Jay-rard Den-tay")

Am I close..?

I can't leave this thread alone  :P

Terry Mitsos - anyone remember the interview from 20-25 years ago where he talked about the Greek-Australian 'roid trade?  Fascinating stuff at the time.  I wonder if that situation still holds true after all these years...

NABBA CHAMP...HE COULD HAVE DONE GOOD IN IFBB WITH THIS LOOK ,,HE DID NATIONALS LATE 80'S AND WAS NOT TOP 5,,NABBA HE WAS GREAT..

I've been to two contest and saw Vic backstage at one. He was by far the best conditioned guy I have seen in person along with Jeff King.

STUNT:  If I remember correctly, he was saying that a certain part of Australia (can't remember where, maybe Melbourne?) had a very big Greek community (which he was part of) and back then pharmaceutical bulk suppliers in Greece asked few questions.  So family connections were all the rage.  I can't exactly remember the route in, but the fact that Australia clearly has a massive shoreline is probably a giveaway.

There must be someone on the board who can remember this better than me?

Also the big bodybuilder Ken C ?, that used to do shows in Kiss Demon make up in the 80's.

Ken Passierello from Connecticut...  He wore the Kiss makeup, only he was a smaller lightweight...

NEITHER, Good call on Dale Ruplinger. To the best of my limited knowledge,Dale has never been mentioned on this board before. How did you ID him?

BETHERE, I don’t know Ruplinger’s contest history so I’ll have to look it up to see if he  was the first and only middleweight to win the overall at the USA.

Joe might know.

LOCAL, What years was Grant Thomas competing?  1998  through ????         I don’t really ever recall hearing about him until now. Did he ever compete  within the IFBB?. I was not too familiar with he other organizations at that  time although we did work with a good number of European powerlifters in the 90’s.

PAT …. I believe that I was at that TJ contest the year it was promoted. I am having a problem pulling up the link you provided but  I think that was the same year that good friends of mine entered and which Bob Birdsong won. Some interesting shit occurred that day. More about that after I read your link.

I think grants one and only pro show was the night of the champions in early 2000's, he was a nabba uni winner also
