huh?  when was this?  Flex won alot of shows..did he ever have ripped glutes?  big Kev won shows and was not known for having ripped glutes..vince taylor..no ripped glutes.  Cormier...don't know but I don't recall anyone ever saying "wow look at cormier's ripped glutes".  dorian had em but it was not his calling card, this whole ripped glutes thing is moronic at best.  Who the f**k goes to a BB show to see ripped glutes?

Why do you think people use diuretics?  To get harder on stage..how do you show off ripped glutes by being as hard as possible that's why people use diuretics.  that's why people are dying...well among other things but that's another story.

I didn't say you had to have them to win ::) I said that they were taken into account when judging a physique. I don't think the ripped glutes thing is stupid, it is part of the evolution of bodybuilding, the same way people now have larger legs than they used to. Not saying you have to agree with it.

People don't use diuretics for ripped glutes, they have used them far before ripped glutes were in vogue. They use them to dry out their whole bodies, not just glutes. Ripped glutes helped make Dorian's rear view the finest in bodybuilding.

honstly we can probably go back and forth on this all day ala hulkster and ND and that's not really something I want to do.  I do have a question, in the IFBB judgeing criteria does it state that the glutes should be judged?  I know the IFBB used to frown on people exposing them during a posing routine.

I don't know if the judges actually follow any rules :D

Dorian's proportions alone kill Ronnie and let's not even get into conditioning

if Dorian's proportions kill ronnie, the please explain why using these two symmetry round shots of each of them in great shape (ronnie in 99 and Dorian in 93):

Dorian had horrible proportions compared to ronnie.  The taper says it all.

His legs overall were pretty fuggin great , he had excellent cuts
lay off the crack, ND. Even you have to admit that Dorian's quads were almost devoid of any cuts from the front whatsoever. it was a major weak point in a major muscle group, not a minor one, like calves.

If he had excellent cuts, lets see them...

Master of the overstatement you are , keep ice-skating up-hill I like watching you try.

Quote Former IFBB Judge from Iroman Magazine Jan 1995 comments on the best bodyparts from the 1994 Mr Olympia

" Best Chest - Yates and Levrone - torn pec aand all "

" Best Back - Yates. He has too much back to be compared. "

" Best Legs - Yates from top to bottom. "

Can't see any cuts in Yates' legs? get to Lens Crafters post haste !!

compared to guys like ronnie, ray, and Wheeler, no, I don't see any cuts..

Yates' quads were among the worst of the top guys in the 90's. They look okay from the side, but bad from the front.

again, show me some shots of Yates quads from the front that have cuts.  You won't find many, if any.

These are cut quads!!:

yates quads are relatively smooth with one big blob of a teardrop muscle on them.

Hulkster this quote if for you , this sums up the Yates-debates

Muscular Development Feb 1994

" 1. Dorian Yates. Blew 'em away ! He was as dominating in this show as any champion can realistically hope to be. When you dissect the Yates physique and presentation, you can find several glaring flaws - the kind of flaws that kept others from the highest levels in our sport. But somehow , when you look at the whole picture , the flaws seem infinitesimal , virtually fading before your eyes can focus upon them.

You may not like the guy , you may not like his physique , but you cannot change the fact he owned the sport for 6 years .

It wasn't bad, it was suboptimal. Kind of like how Arnold's legs were suboptimal compared to modern standards, but by themselves they are quite good.

ND has argued in the past that they are better than Ronnie Coleman's at their best.

I guess the Mr Olympia judges were brainwashed too , and the writers for all the bodybuilding magazines , bottom line , whether you like his physique or not , no one can deny Dorian was a winner , right from the get go , he entered 17 Pro contests and won 15 of them , thats a 88% win average , he never placed lower than second in a contest , and was only beaten twice , he dominated the sport at the time he competed , he changed the standard for years to come , he was so much better than he needed to be to win , to call him overrated his nonsense ,
if you don't like his physique thats fine but do say he was overrated shows your biased and your lack of knowlege , almost 10 years after he retired he is still being talked about.

I think the same goes for you in regards to ronnie. You are the most ardent of ronnie critics, yet unfortunatly for you ronnie is in charge right now. And thats a fact you can't change

He was overrated  because his body was uglier than ten-thousand pigs. He won because the judges were obsessed with ugly, brutal size and condition, and ignored aesthetics. The judges were brainwashed because many times they judged Dorian on what he used to look like, they do the same to Ronnie.
