Latest Donald Trump approval: Fox News poll has dire news on economy

A new poll found that a majority of voters are unhappy with the economy, with many holding President Donald Trump responsible for current economic conditions.

The latest Fox News poll found 76% of voters view the national economy as not so good or poor, while 25% view it as excellent or good. When asked about their personal finance situation, 60% said it was not so good or poor while 40% said it was excellent or good.

A majority of voters (62%) say Trump is responsible for current economic conditions. Only 32% of voters say that former President Joe Biden is responsible for the state of the economy, according to the poll.

When broken down by party affiliation, 81% of Democrats hold Trump responsible while 15% hold Biden responsible. Among Independents, 62% say Trump while 29% say Biden. A majority of Republican voters, 53% in total, hold Biden responsible while 42% say Trump.

A total of 46% of voters say Trump’s economic policies are hurting the economy, while 15% say they are helping. A total of 39% say the administration’s policies make no difference.

Trump’s signature economic policy has been the implementation of tariffs — taxes on imported goods. The president has long been a supporter of tariffs, believing they can be used to grow United States revenue and equalize trade balances. Trump has also argued that the United States has been taken advantage of economically by foreign countries.

Voters, however, are not pleased with Trump’s tariffs, with 63% of them disapproving the policy, according to the Fox News poll.

Voters also disapprove of Trump’s handling of immigration (53% disapprove), foreign policy (55% disapprove), the economy (61% disapprove) and healthcare (64% disapprove).

Only on the policy of border security do a majority of voters (53%) approve Trump’s handling of the matter.

Overall, the president’s approval rating stands at 41%, according to the poll.

The Fox News poll was conducted between Nov. 14 and Nov. 17 with a sample size of 1,005 registered voters. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3%.
