& not one of the Loony Leftist with always so much to say on here
have gone near the subject. 
Depending on where socialism falls on the spectrum, I am absolutely fine with it. I know that socialism is neither a single ideology nor is it an all-or-nothing system. Many of the policies Americans rely on every day exist somewhere along a spectrum which blends public and private responsibility.
It would be hypocritical of me to say otherwise since I personally benefit from and rely upon social security, PERS, and Medicare which are obvious examples of socialism. Also, my sister is disabled and will soon be moving into assisted living which she could in no way afford except that she recently qualified for Medicaid. Like most people, I drive on public roads including interstate highways and go to the library on occasion. If ever needed, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and the West Linn Police are a phone call away. The streets of West Linn are swept clean and when there is climate weather, they are plowed and sanded by West Linn public works. I pay for and make use of the many public parks around town.
The above are just a few examples of socialism which I help pay for with property tax and by approving levies and in turn benefit from when used or needed.
