Don't freak out! Honestly....don't....
I just watched today's press briefing with Trump. IMO he actually did a great job of seeming presidential and not acting so much like a reality show host. He didn't lose his cool....which for him, is a notable accomplishment. I have no idea if the facts he presented are accurate or not, but he made them sound believable. Who knows, maybe he actually studied up before going in front of the cameras and was as close to being truthful as is possible in an ever changing situation like this pandemic.
Trump looked good. He appeared honestly concerned and upset without seeming like an alarmist. His facial expressions were right on and hopefully, sincere. His hand and body language was still exaggerated and somewhat used car salesman like. Not that this has much do do with anything important, but even his makeup and hair color were good. He did not look like the orange man. Was it the lighting or his he actually getting some professional help to look like a normal person. One small detail about his appearance that still bothers me is his haircut and I am not referring to the 'cover-up the loss of hair' sweep (at least he hasn't gone the toupee route), it is the lack of taper in the back which makes his look a bit scruffy. On a plus note, he's now a Miss Clairol champagne blond instead or a faded carrot top. It still looks phony, but it is a great improvement of earlier times.
So, a week ago, I doubted he'd get enough votes to win a second term, despite that we Democrats haven't settled on anyone viable (IMO). I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am sick of all these old folks being in positions of leadership when they don't actually represent the bulk of our nation's people who are middle aged. And old farts don't inspire the up and coming generations. As of today, I honestly think he has a good chance at winning a second term. For all of you who've supported him from the get go, that's great. Personally, I am going to need to see a lot more days like today before he has my vote. But then, none of the candidates have won my vote so far.
Biden seems clearly feeble minded or worse, in the early stages of Alzheimer's. Even though he is the elder candidate, Sanders acts the sharpest. You may not agree with his position on the issues, but at least he can remember what he was talking about from moment to moment. I don't see how the Democratic nominee will be anyone but Biden, unfortunately. The best we Democrats can hope for is a strong and valid running mate who can step up when Biden is relegated to running the government from an assisted living facility. Is a personal nurse able to be part of the administrative staff? (this is a joke that isn't funny).
