Sentencing someone who slept with someone 2 or even 1 year away from age of consent should NOT carry the same punishment as if they had molested someone much younger. The idea that at 17 they're victims but at 18 they're consenting adults makes no sense.

I'd have a hard time telling that to someone's parents though. Especially when it was a teacher/coach/sunday school teacher (which it usually seems to be) who made advances on the minor.
