Dorian Yates never did squats or deadlifts.

He did squats early in his career but he always included deadlifts and stiff deads throughout his competitive years. He deadlifted after all his back work was completed so he was shot and couldn't use huge weights.

Guys that used the deadlift.

Coleman
Yates
Haney
Franco
Robby
Draper
Padilla
The list goes on.

Gene, just excuses for modern day "lifters" to avoid hard/heavy work. No squats and deads?
May as well put on your board shorts twinks...

'Hard work' LOL. Oh brother! If you want to see an example of hard work then I invite you to attend one of my psycholinguistics classes. I'll put a question to you in front of the entire class and watch you sweat worse than that fat idiot Brian Shaw jogging after the ice cream van for a Mr Whippy. People who talk about doing 'hard work' in the gym are either prepubescent dullards or middle-aged social rejects who extol the virtues of remaining single for life (as if they have a choice) and have a giant poster of a menacing-looking jungle cat in their living room with the quote 'Lions don't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep'.

There's nothing 'hardcore' about lifting weights. If you think that being 'big' and doing manual labour as a hobby somehow adds value to who you are, or separates you from 'the herd' then you probably deserve the wheelchair that awaits you. If you want to look aesthetically pleasing because you see it as a valid means to an end (e.g. Barebacking hundreds of 10/10 women, like I have) then it would be logical to take the approach most likely to deliver a successful outcome without suffering from any external consequences, i.e. a fucked lower back. Ignore my advice if you wish; it won't be me hooked up to a CPAP in my bed, looking like a fat, anthropomorphic beetroot!

Go back down the coal mine, you stupid fat fuck. The only time I'll need your opinion is if my boiler breaks down, or something.

All in good time, young man. For now, let me just leave you with the teaser that I am a vociferous opponent of Cartesian dualism.

Well, I, for one, am pleased to read such sense.

I look forward to your smashing of that vestigial myth about the so-called "mind-muscle connection." Anyone other than those blubbering New Mysterians of Muscle knows that there is no Ghost in the Neuromuscular Junction.

Cheers!

Ah! A breath of fresh air! Yes, the 'mind-muscle connection' really does seem to be the oldest and lamest bull in the field, but it just won't die! I was beginning to question why my student would ask me to share my bodybuilding expertise on a site like this - given that it appears to be full of halfwits. It is quite a relief to realise that there are a few individuals here who are capable of grasping the complexities of my arguments. If you are ever in Massachusetts on a Thursday, please swing by MIT for a sneaky G&T.

If you think potential paralysis is a subject for 'trolling' then I don't really know what to say to you. Let me ask you this: If deadlifting is so safe, would you be happy to let a child do it?

'Put on earth to do'. Oh boy...lol. Nobody put me on earth to do anything. I can assure you I am more than capable of doing basic physical tasks. And if I consider any of those tasks to be beneath me then I simply get out my phone book and call you. I fail to see how you have made the link between 'basic physical tasks' and deadlifting.

Deadlifts and squats are very effective in building size, strength and thickness in the legs, hams, lower back and traps but it takes a lot out of you and most of you guys are very lazy, you would prefer to sit on a machine and push out a few reps then check social media on your phone, now the fox and sour grapes mentality comes in, because you are too lazy to do it you bash the exercise so you can feel better about being a pussy.

Good. And please don't think about ever mentioning them in future. You can go back to work now.

This is truth... And I admit, I only deadlift like once a month now, very light.
Funny how people on social media say "going to war" when talking about training.
No, youre lifting weights, our troops go to war. Freaking lunatics...
