Not sure if Jay is a Weider athlete but I know that Weider athletes are required to do a certain number of appearances as part of their contract. In most cases it is the appearance fee tha Weider covers and the promoter has to fly them in and put them up. Basically you call up Lynn Conkright (at least thats who t used to be) you tell her who you want and when and she see if they are available. You get what you get since they are booked so far out.
Video sales are not a huge income. Unless they own 100% of the rights and produced the video themselves. There are production costs (sound, video, lighting), post-production (editing, dubbing, music, sound, titles, etc.), packaging (designing and manufacturing), marketing (buying ads in various publications, promotinal materials etc.) distribution (which eats most of the money since the distributor takes a large cut and has margins to meet) and making the copies (whihc isn't a huge cost but adds onto the final product). A $35 video probably cost, after everything about $10 to $15 or so produce depending on number made. A distributor will want a margin of at least 6% to 10% (maybe less), a wholesaler will want to keystone if possible. So in reality if Jay makes $2 to $4 a video he would be doing better than most. And just how many of these videos actually sell. I highly doubt anywhere near 10,000 copies.
