I went to a few shows in the 80's/90's.

1988 Olympia
1989 ASC
1993 Olympia
1994 ASC
1995 ASC

Was a good time to be a bodybuilding fan.
you went too the 88 Olympia in L.A?..... 8) 8) 8)...what was the introduction like in person when they shut the lights down too Michael Gasparis “Destiny” and introduced them
One bye one with the spot lights...was bloody awesome watching it on VHS way back in the late 80s

Dan Duchaine's articles were great...I always felt like he was revealing secrets of bodybuilding.....I think he was the guy who invented the original supplement called something Orange...can't remember the name....but I heard it was amazing and you would burn fat like hell...but then it was banned and someone put out a weak substitute

I believe you're referring to Ultimate Orange. I tried it 22 years ago.

That stuff gave me a massive headache. The first time I used it, I took it 45 minutes before my workout as instructed. The bus ride from campus to the gym was 40 minutes.

Normally, I would take a nap on the way. But as I was falling asleep, my arm started feeling cold. Next, it started shaking on its own.

When I finally got to they gym, my head was killing me. It felt as if someone put a vice grip on my head while blowing a hair dryer in my face. Throw in the heart palpitations and it was a certified nightmare, even though it did help push the poundages as advertised.

Next day, same thing happened. After the third day, I said "TO HECK WITH THIS!!!"

Considering how much I spent on it, I certainly didn't want to throw it away. So, it took me nearly a month to use what should have taken a week or two to use. But, once I finished it off, that was IT!! And, I never touched the stuff again.

As for Duchaine revealing the secrets of bodybuilding, it's too bad he didn't use those secrets on himself. He was the ultimate reality check for those folks who think all they need is a syringe and a secret stack and it's instant Mr. Universe.

Sadly professional/competitive bodybuilding has died. Its just all drugs and about size now. Ben and Joe will be turning in their graves. Arnold was in discussions with Serge Nubret about returning IFBB bodybuilding to its true form in 2009 but sadly Serge died after pushing himself too hard in preparation for guest posing at The Arnold Classic. It will never return now.....

:o  When?  What happened?  Is there a thread on here about it?

I think he was using ampetamines to get in shape, there was even rumours his family killed him FFS.

i never heard of some of those guys but if you want to name any obscure guy that competed to prove your point fine, but when people think of 90's bodybuilding i doubt most of them come to mind so it's silly to say the 90's guys are all dead

go fuck yourself while thinking about your crush ESF

Yes you're absolutely right ...it was Ultimate Orange, thanks.......and you're right about Duchaine...her looked terrible.....Good thing you stopped taking that Ultimate Orange.....sounds like you were headed for a heart attack in the gym....

Also do you remember Duchaine got into some serious trouble with a female bodybuilder who he was a guru to........something about her dying or almost dying due to whatever advise he was giving her in terms of supplements
