Why do BJJ guys think they re invincible?
« on: April 25, 2018, 10:52:01 AM »
I find this more and more. ANyone blue belt and above has this arrogance about them. One kid of about 15 thinks he can beat up any boxer in a street fight!!
Yet last year I saw a BJJ black belt get his nose bitten off and nearly die at the hands of a rugby prop who wasn't even a trained fighter!

Rugby players bite you during a fight? That’s what Tyson did when he was LOSING to Holyfield.

Why does OP only post about fighting? Does he think that makes him tough by proxy?

Tyson was winning and just went nuts. IMO the toughest fighting style is Thai boxing. Id like to see a BJJ guy take one of those knees in the face.

I know  BJJ guy who was getting his ass kicked a guy was on top of him punching him in the face. The guy had a ring on. In the end the BJJ guy had the guy in his guard and arm barred him and broke his arm. He said he heard the guys arm pop and the other guys face was like WTF was that ?  ;D

Great, another ESFITNESS. let me guess; you’ve never actually been in a fight before. But you are ready at all times. You are just waiting for your chance to rip somebody’s head off.

Ive never started a thread about fighting nor have I ever threatened anyone on this board...never claimed tough guy status but if you are asking im a trained kick boxer was never into karate or any of those other styles kick boxing gives you boxing shills along with good power kicks if needed..ive had 23 in ring fights while in the marines and im 51 years old and ive had my share of regular street fights... wouldn't want to to much to lose house money freedom but I will in defense of myself wife or kids...

I would invite any of you guys to go to your local BJJ dojo and challenge one guys that have been doing it for a year. The rules are you can do anything and so can they. You will be in for a world of hurt. There is a reason why pure Muay Thai guys with no ground game won't step foot in the UFC world. There is a reason Mayweather wouldn't fight Conor in the Octagon. In today's game you need wrestling for take downs, take down defense, and reversals. You need BJJ for submissions and submission defense. You need a striking game. This is where Muay Thai shines.

I come to these opinions from experience. I've had 5 fights in the ring in boxing. 4 and 1 before I realized I really don't like getting punched. I'm also way too pretty to get my face banged up.  I also have been involved in BJJ. Truth be told I was never good at BJJ even though I have submitted more than few guys.  I did learn enough to appreciate what a good practitioner at it can do and it's amazing.

In a street fight if a legit BJJ black belt has you in his guard good chance you are not going to come out on top. No pun intended.  :D

You can say as you want but not always true.My buddy fought Kenny florians brother many years ago and he had been doing bjj for 15 years at this point and my buddy was just a brawler and my buddy handed him his fucking ass at a gravel pit one night and my buddy was half cocked as well.

Not saying a good striker can't win. Kenny's brother is not Kenny.

Some people get a false sense of security after 6 months ~ 2 years of training.

In a real fight, the ground is NOT where you want to be.

If you’re large, athletic and very strong, and you have a fundamental understanding of how to remain on your feet, you have the advantage over a majority of street weasels and “ground game” heroes.

Even on the ground, superior strength will allow an individual to torque his way out of all but the most honed submission attempts.

Be big and strong, aggressive, protect your neck and head, stay on your feet, keep an opponent away from your back, and be modestly comfortable delivering considerable blunt force trauma using elbows, knees, and, last, fists, and you’re essentially a wrecking machine in 99.9 percent of altercations.

Superior conditioning is what wins a fight. Most of the time both guys are gassed in under 2 minutes. Most of the time these BJJ guys who are out sized hold on for dear life till the other guy can't move.

Unless you go up a against a former college wrestler. Then, you might be going for a ride... into the air... onto the street...

Watch your head!!! No padding down there
