Are you out of your mind? What bodybuilder is making $100 an hour personal training? If they are do they have 8 clients lined up for an 8 hour day? Once their syringe life style is over and people see what their physique is actually like no one will pay them for any advice.
There are 22 year old girls in my gym who arent even in good shape making $90 an hour training people. If you're not aware of that then you must live in a marginal socio-economic area or just need to get out more.
Palumbo just had a trainer on (who was never a pro but trains a few pros) who charges $100-200 an hour.
Why would Pro's not keep making money after they retire? They're knowledge base is still there. Palumbo and even guys like Boston Loyd make great money training people over the internet FFS.
Being a Pro makes you extremely visible and and knowledgeable. The rich housewife or stressed out banker values that when they are choosing a trainer to get in shape for a wedding or get healthy or whatever.
How else do you think these pro's are building great new houses, driving hot cars, keeping hot women, travelling the world etc? Are YOU doing all of those things? Are you doing ANY of those things? Be honest with yourself and apply the same level of scrutiny cynicism as you do when judging these pro's you are so critical of.
Their financial status after they retire from competing should, if anything, improve because they have more time to devote to their business without the stresses of dieting and competing. But they've built huge credibility and visibility by competing as a Pro. Yes, the plastic trophy can be bought for $20. But what the trophy represents to clients is actually worth a lot.
