The title says email, not text. For encrypted text: Viber, Signal, Vysk ... there are several.

J

I read the title and I offered him a legit solution. Technically imessage is encrypted. If you trust a second party like the aforementioned for end to end encryption, like message, you'll still need someone to have the service.

And even with all that the recipient would know who it was coming from.

A disposable/pre-pay/non-contract phone purchased and used in the manner I suggested offers true anonymity.

Any of these apps used with a VPN are more than safe.

Send the email from a public library.

Not too sure if this is traceable.

Don't public libraries have servers? The average person can't access what's on the servers, but the server can monitor emails.

When I still worked, the school district monitored our emails and websites we visited. My co-worker was caught accessing porn when he was supposed to be working. He's lucky he didn't get fired. Viewing porn sites using the district's server was grounds for dismissal. Using paid work time for personal stuff, is consider sealing time and is also grounds for dismissal. He lost any use of a computer and access to the web at work for two years.

think of the internet as a large 'brain'... all of your input, all of everyones input.. of any sort... instantly feeds its knowledge. knowledge never forgotten... enabled by computing power beyond your imagination, with unfathomable technology at its fingertips

i wish this was not true

no. nothing connected to the internet is anonymous... nothing.

walk in to a library. log in with a guest account. open a connection on port 25 with whatever server you want to send some mail to and send a properly formatted smtp message.

now explain to me how anyone can track that message back to you ???

Every day, millions, if not billions of emails are sent.  Billions of grains of sand, slipping through the fingers.

Nobody has the time to trace your email down unless it has a clear financial value (ie, parading you in front of cameras to keep their budget going), nor do many have the capacity to do so and even less will have the inclination by the time you factor in that there almost always needs to be a crime committed or as a process of committing a crime.

Don't believe the hype - it isn't even remotely true that many who are tech savvy can figure out where it came from.  That is utter fucking bullshit.  If I sent an email to someone through tor and any email service.. unless I'm front page news if what I'm doing.. no, just no.  No interest.

Even if you email me with the easiest tell - from your isp's free email, Yeah, I'll have your isp immediately - but I've still got to convince your ISP to give me your details or obtain them illegally, myself.  Red flag for 99.9999% of the population.  Even higher percentage once you factor in the "give a fuck" element.  Back in previous times, you could do more with the IP - often boards would publicly show the the IPs of posters, allowing higher correlation.

People like to talk about how unsafe they are on the internet and how big brother is watching - well, reality check, your lives aren't on big brother's radar.    There is an element of truth to the idea of AI doing increased correlation in the not too distant future but again, you're not doing the shit they're looking for.  Stay away from children and keep your crazy religious beliefs to yourself.

Or better still, just don't send that email - doesn't sound like you're wanting to do something "good".

smtp log -> library isp -> isp gives library up as account holder -> cameras

that situation is plausible level of tracking but must be a crime that is occurring for them to bother.

if you want to stay anonymous (lame), you don't need to go to a place with cameras.  You would just walk around, find an open wifi and use tor or something.

Again, though - if you need that type of service, you're probably doing wrong :-/

I believe this is true, they always find a way to bust you, even when you're using PGP, TOR, VPN or other technologies.

it is true, every word.

anyone looking at this from a human perspective, or thinks that there is no 'interest' in your every waking thought and action (and inevitable 'inaction') have little connection to reality.

there are things that exist right now that u would not believe...

It seems to me, the only folks having an interest in my web activities, are companies who have something to sell. For example, I sometimes buy clothing and home goods on the Internet. Following a purchase, I get a flood of spam, usually from the companies I purchased from. But, also from outfits selling similar products. Another example is when I check out new automobile models, I subsequently get a bunch of adds from the manufacturers and local dealers. Charitable and political donations trigger an overwhelming ask. If I get another, "Barbara Streisand will double your donation" request, I'll personally hunt her down and slap her.... just joking.

I'm not wealthy enough for anyone to be interested in checking out my finances. I'm not a radical. So, the government is unlikely to be interested in me. It probably would be pretty easy to out me to my friends and family, but whoever did this would be wasting their time since I'm not a secretive person.

Only people who have something to hide or who believe in wild conspiracy theories fear being tracked on the Internet.

Or people that don't want their identities stolen
or people that don't want their credit card or banking information revealed
or people who keep adult content on their cloud service and would like to keep it private
or any number of other reasons, down to the most basic i.e. the desire to keep their personal lives, you know, personal. The same way you wouldn't want someone in your house staring at you all day, which is the same thing
but yeah, you've clearly figured out the binary reasons why anyone wouldn't want to be tracked online
i swear, you sound dumber with every post
so much for the theory that age brings wisdom or knowledge
more like early onset dementia/alzheimers and the inability to avoid coming off as a gigantic imbecile with every new statement

Not sure how many libraries have cameras, but the library is going to be using NAT, so even if the cameras happened to capture you in the act, going from the public IP of the library's modem or whatever to an individual host still seems like a long shot.

If you were pepetrating a national crime or some shit inside of a James bond novel, government agents could probably fuck you over with a good case. But to think that petty criminals are at risk seems paranoid to me... The amount of work and expertise required to make such a case is very big.

Edit: I just read your previous post, 100% agree with everything you said.

That's the drill we're given and all the things you mention are real threats everyone faces. So for people who worry a lot about these things, your advice is excellent.

I'm reasonably cautious regarding my Internet activity and in protecting my personal information. But, I am not obsessed about it. So, while I'm well aware that the issues you mentioned could easily affect me, I'm also fairly sure there isn't much I can do to absolutely insure that it never does. However, everything is a trade off and being constantly paranoid that my personal information will be hacked isn't the way I care to live.

Maybe I'd change my tune if, my identity was stolen or I had adult content in my Cloud to worry about. As far as credit card and banking information, these things are already out there to anyone whom I've given permission to check my credit.  I already commented on how I feel about my personal life. I'm also not the least bit worried that someone will break into my house and stare at me all day.

Levels of wisdom and knowledge vary with each person. For someone who you suggest is both unwise and lacking in knowledge, I've done pretty well.....guess I'm just lucky, huh?

But... let's say I create an email account in a foreign country and send it from some Kinkos in downtown Tokyo. There will be recorded video but... who will be able to recognize you there? No one.

I'm not looking to do anything illegal or bad by the way, it's always bugged me how, in this day and age, it's almost impossible to remain anonymous for the simplest of tasks.

just pm me for shmoe tapes
