I remember right after last years Mr Olympia, Samir Bannout was asked about who he felt was better; Phil or Ramy. Samir said that Phil was better. Samir also said that something is missing from Ramy’s look..  he didn’t know what it was... but he said that Ramy is missing something.

Not a fan of Phillis, but will say that at 2:45 the image of his arms are absolutely insane.
If you use Hammer strength then not bad at all.. each to his own. not a fan of his but i have seen some good physiques with free weights & machines. Normally a combination of both.

I wonder if Samir would be able to dial in Ramy. I don’t think that Samir is a Guru in any way... but Samir does know how to get ripped

MOH is a moron ego lifter just like Branch Warren.  Just waiting for him to blow something out on video.

Here we go again. Train “heavy” and you’re an ego lifter. Train “light” and you’re all drugs.

Not really.

Train heavy with bad form and youre an ego lifter.

Levrone trained with heavy weight but used relatively good form.

Samir was actually always struggling to get dry on contest day.He managed for the 83 Olympia and about a couple more times, probably by accident.

But he tore his pec. Heath hasn’t torn anything. Neither has Johnnie Jackson.

There are no definitives in life. Anything can happen.

Its obvious that training heavy with good form will reduce the risk of injury, as opposed to the way branch warren trains.

Just a few sets of single arm dumbbell laterals, a few sets of bent over laterals and the rest overhead presses, though it looks more like steep incline bench presses, and he has all that meat on his delts.

Remember, he almost had to change his tank because of sweat. As he said, "That's what happens when you train hard."

That was also with 550-600 pounds, correct?

Exactly. It's the explosive movements that kill. Arthur Jones demonstrated on a force plate the difference when you press a weight and throw it. It's the difference between velocity and acceleration (change in velocity). You can sit in a plane going at 300+ mph and nothing. Go from zero to 50 mph in a fraction of a second in a car and your head will snap off. I remember trying to explain this to my girlfirend while parking and then suddenly I slammed on the brakes. We both flew forward pretty forcefully even though we were going about 3 mph.

Difference between pressing your fist against a brick wall as hard as you can and punching it.

You really think it was with that poundage? Haha levrone is a strong guy no doubt and I bet it was with 405/455 which is still a lot!! Apparently on the incline

Exactly. Levrone, fully gassed, IS a (very) strong presser, but he never benched 550-600 pounds. Might’ve had a hanger-on bent-rowing ... er, I mean, “spotting” him with such a weight, perhaps.

Samir is blind

Ramy won the 2017 Olympia

he's killing Phil in the side chest

I was surprised at the limited range of motion on the movements. Apparently it works for him, maybe I am doing too much

Seems like they all do that. Ever seen Jason Huh? Takes partials to the extreme. One of the first things I noticed in Pumping Iron was Louie just throwing up the weight on over head presses. Even Arnold on the T-bar and cable rows. And this is back in the early 70s.

I'm sure many of the old timers here, like me, smile thinking back to the days when you actually had to clean the bar to do military presses. Just unheard of now.
