Doesn't move the needle much.

10 years ago maybe a little bit but the mainstream media's ability to spin and influence has decreased so dramatically.

In 2018, these events are now dissected online via forums, social media or alternative media commentators on Twitter or YouTube.

The general consensus I've gathered is that this was likely some person connected or supportive of the Left so it really is a moot point in regards to hurting Republican candidates.

Besides, I think people have pretty well made up their minds at this point and the Democrats just are not getting their people out in early voting like they should. Look at that post Yamcha put up a few days ago. Out of 8 battleground Senate races, 7 of them were favoring Republicans and Democrats SHOULD be well ahead in early voting. It's just not happening. They are not mobilizing their potential constituents to the ballot boxes.

Even after 2 years of non stop assault towards Trump, they do not even have a prayer of retaking Congress. Total disaster for their party.

they've got one last ace up their sleeve: celebrity support

when kim k, katey perry, eminem, justin bieber, and the entire cast list of any movie in Hollywood are call behind an idea, it mobilizes hundreds of thousands if not millions to march, to believe in anything (see: their bandwagoning on the Kavanaugh thing to support the criminal liar Ford) on the basis of emotion, and even to vote for the WRONG people, like they did with Hillary. EXIT POLLING on all the networks showed people admitting they often voted for her as a nominee and in the general because she was one of them and told them she was for all women, etc. the usual bullshit. These shitbags have like 50,000,000 followers, mostly white young people and women mostly but still, those assholes vote because Drake or Jay Z tells them to. Republicans will never have that star power and it's the secret to why they can't lock up the country under Republican dominion the way the Japanese Liberal Democrats did to their opponents or the Christian Democrats in Germany, or even Putin's party. In the case of Japan and Russia, there's only one leader, one political party that dominates, and one national idea. Whiners, moaners, negatives, antisocials, bums, scroungers, and haters of all things majority race or male are NOT welcome and face IMMEDIATE removal from society via deportation and/or imprisonment and a fucking steep fine + a lifetime ban. That's how you do it.

Can we all agree that Pres Trump should refrain from saying the media is the enemy of the people.
This nation was founded on the ideals of a free and thriving press.

No he is correct.

Pres Trump shouldn't refrain from being himself.  Trump was elected to be Trump.  He wasn't elected to turn into the likes of Obama/Clinton/Carter.

No - what you want is silence from the Right so that your leftist whackjob views are never countered.  F the left and their communist nonsense.   You should be ashamed of yourself - but you are not - since you are a leftist pansie.

What do you call a conspiracy of partisan heavyweights who use their considerable influence and power to sway public opinion with skewed narratives, extremely slanted chirons, politically-vetted panelists, and opinion hosts who conflate news with perception? They're not allies of the people, certainly. A non-Trump President would simply call them detractors, critics, talking heads, media persons. The people who elected Trump will settle for the most succinct and accurate term "enemy".

Um, no. Until the press returns to simply reporting facts and allowing people to make up their own minds about how they feel, they are an enemy of the people.

We should all agree that the President of the US should stop pandering to his base especially when some of his base are looney tunes, but there are people, as you can see on this board, that are too far gone to be rational adults.

They should.... I don't support politicians who paint one side or the other as evil. They should all act like civilized adults. Is it really too much to ask for a President to not act like Trump does? One of his supporters took his words to heart and sent bombs to people. Maybe enough is enough and he should keep his promise he made in Nov 2016 about bringing the country back together again.

He's keeping his promises, alright. It's one of the banners you see at all his rallies now - Promises Made, Promises Kept. If he was lying about that or had failed to deliver on too many key pieces of legislation he'd promised 2 years ago, his base would've contracted and his audience diminished by now. Far from it. He's got capacity crowds (and thousands stuck waiting outside watching him on a monitor) from coast to coast, and his base is fired with enthusiasm, independents are starting to listen to him, and he's made a crack in the black vote - which will widen to a chasm by the end of his first term - because he realizes he can't rely on white men alone to win next month or 2 years from now. If he had total control over Congress, he'd have passed ALL the things he promised in 2016. If he gets even a small bump in the Senate's Republican footprint and blunts the gains the Left makes in the House, not to mention gains black support (hispanic not likely due to the border issue), he's untouchable as long as the economy holds. The Dems have NOTHING. NO program. NO alternatives to his natural energy policies. The only thing they can offer, besides being not him, are stronger environmental regulation and softer relationships with Europe. Americans don't give two fine fucks about that crap. Oh, and now that they've had their first taste in 250 years of a President who says what he thinks (besides our founding fathers, who had no base or women voters to worry about), they've gotten a taste for it and they're not very well gonna hand the keys over to the bastards in the Democrat party whose doublespeak and in-depth, elitist language leaves most people changing the channel after 5 minutes. Ever seen an Obama speech or one by Biden? They're snoozefests. Let's not forget how the Kavanaugh bullshit split the country clean down the middle and offended pretty much everyone over the age of 50 besides lesbians and feminists, and motivated conservative younger people to rally to his side. The Democrats going in the streets with microphones to support those maniacs in the halls of congress who harassed the old Republicans in elevators or banging on the doors of the SCOTUS...was a huge strategic blunder. It's now making the rounds on Republican ads for the House in a lot of states, guilt by association. It looks bad. The Left should've stayed out of that whole saga and waited for the FBI to finish its investigation. Instead they declared him guilty before he even got a chance to talk. The people hated that.

"Now it's time for America to bind the wounds of division — have to get together," Trump told screaming supporters gathered at the New York Hilton. "To all Republicans and Democrats and independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people."

“It is time for us to come together as one united people,” Mr. Trump said at victory rally in New York. “I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all the citizens and this is important to me.”

He didn't count on the media and the entire Democrat political establishment declaring jihad on him from 1 day. The weekend after he got elected 700,000 women came into the streets to demonstrate against him. What can you unite when no one gives you a chance? He's made his peace with being the enemy of half the country, but his support is not shrinking. It's growing. Every time the U.S. is trashed by foreign media (or its own) for electing this man, and whenever the Left's celebrities speak out against him on social media, his popularity skyrockets. I told you he's seen as the underdog and the people like that about him. He's no Rocky - he's not a good guy down on his luck - but he's figured out how to go from TV personality and occasional author to being able to get 40,000 people to stand on their feet (and millions at home) and cheer ecstatically for him. Few politicians could do that, let alone a political amateur whose only experience at the executive level was sending his followers on a fishing expedition for Obama's birth certificate.

Obama holds a nearly hour-long speech in Detroit today trashing Trump left and right, an unprecedented act when you consider ex-Presidents NEVER hold speeches against their successors at any time during their time in office. It took him less than two years to start making the rounds again. Either the Left is desperate and needs their prodigy back in the driver's seat or he's not aware that he's violating precedent and Presidential decorum by going after the guy who replaced him.

Spoken like someone who still has a fundamental lack of understanding of why Trump got elected and 18 other professional politicians didn't. This is bigger than the Presidency. We hired him to turn the system on its head within the framework of the law and slowly erode the liberal strangehold on the Supreme Court. On these two items, as with many others of secondary importance, Donald Trump has delivered. What the Left has to say is a matter of completely indifference to him and to his supporters, 50 million strong.
