if want to loose weight try fasting - i recommend the 36 hour fast 1x per week - just water only (no coffee, no gum, no tea, no bcaas) just water from sat night till monday AM

also if you have skin issues you cannot seem to get taken care of - try fasting aka leaky gut issues

we are? i thought the whole idea was the eating window, not the amount of foods consumed.

how do we know

its not like there's a whole population that been followed for decades that show health benefits from chewing during an 8 hour period rather than a 12 hour period.

You dont know what's going on.

Eating every 3 hours is dumb asf unless your on gear and try to get huge. If you're not, you don't need to eat that often or that much. Majority of supplements are useless and you get better micronutrients via solid food.

suboptimal method to lose weight and retain muscle

you will be in a katabolic state after about 8 hours without any protein

So much of what's repeated about protein is from very old studies and the protein supplement companies pushing their powder.  Kenyan runners can run a marathon at a pace faster than most commercial treadmills can go at top speed for 26 miles and many are vegetarian low protein eaters. I remember a lot of old studies said you can grow on under 50 grams of protein a day.  I don't know what's factual. I use a protein powder but I wonder if it's doing anything for me.

Fasting periodically is good- digestion takes a fair amount of energy so it’s a form of recovery. But this broscience BS about “cleansing your body of impurities” is silly. What impurities? Heavy metal toxins that bind to cells? Fat soluble organopesticides?No- they don’t go anywhere unless you ingest EDTA.

I don't eat any powders no need for it. But fasting is stupid especially when training for strength and size

Fasting and steroids work great together. So when you take advice from bodybuilders in magazines, it's something to keep in mind - the steroids really make or break the advices.

I mostly do 16/8 intermittent fasting. Honestly, it's hard. You always hear people talking about the correlation between anger and hunger. I'm one of those people I think, but more than just anger... There are lots of mental processes that seem tied to food.

I'm sticking with it for now, but I've started to think that fasting is better for people whose mind, in general, is less sensitive to eating.

On the other hand, it might just be that people who are less happy exacerbate their faults by fasting.

When you are in a fasted state fat goes into our bloodstream..the fat and cholesterol can build..it built into a deposit on my gallbladder and killed it...my laparoscopic surgeons first question to me was “so, how long have you been intermittent fasting?”....my Gastro doctor and surgeon both said since intermittent fasting got popular they have had a lot of these cases.::it’s their version of barefoot running being a goldmine to bone and joint doctors.

Wow, who would of thought fasting could cause gall bladder issues. Sounded like BS but I looked it up. Bench is dead on. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/conditions/liver_biliary_and_pancreatic_disorders/gallstones_85,P00841

Is there any chance this isnt fasting related and you likely had preexisting genetic issues that lead to gall bladder failure?

Thanks for sharing.

Intermittent fasting.

You only fast for so many hours.

Like if you slept till noon everyday.

Common sense in all things.  No doubt extreme fasting might have deleterious effects.

You also have to stay hydrated while fasting.

When I was a kid a doctor defined "Fasting" as not eating for more than a day.  Skipping a meal was called "Moderating Your Caloric Intake"...

Thanks for sharing.

The same doctor said that rapid weight change...whether gaining or losing...is what brings on gall bladder issues.
