If you insist. Whatever makes you happy. You seem to be a very sensitive guy(man), and I don't want to upset you.

Meow.

Back in the day 50s 60s even early 70s we didn't know half the shit that went on with our government even the president
if you got outa line or threatened to expose anyone you were buried... And to be honest we were better off not knowing.

Didn't change a thing life moved on ..

i think most ppl back then felt the gov had the average persons best interest... which i agree as well too.. but times have changed....

The way society is today, you can't avoid politics or noticing what the government is doing unfortunately.

cancel your internet, you'll feel like your back in the "good old days" in no time

This is true. If you end the forced programming that hours of daily computer and TV time put into people's brains things would be a lot different. Most can't give up the little jolt of brain chemicals that this provides though, regardless if it is harmful or not. Most people's standard of living is going down while they are being entertained to death.

Agreed.

Also with Youtube and online news, people can also mostly focus on what they want to.

Before, with only TV, magazines and newspapers, the information they were getting might have been a bit more broad.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work either , unless you live deep in the mountains , in the forest or in some backwaters village in Alaska.

If you are around society (and interact with people) the way it is today, you cannot avoid noticing political agendas and what the government is doing.

People know less now than they did in the past which might seem paradoxical during this information boom but a lot seem content to just google as needed rather than lug around all that cumbersome knowledge which folks had to travel with back before the interwiki.

You'd think there would be Renaissance Men springing up all over the place but we're few and far between.

I would really love it if things that belong in the news weren‘t posted on getbig. It‘s pathetic when u come here to rest your eyes on some muscle( no homo) yet half of threads are politics related. Who are the gossip girls on getbig that post this crap?

I don't know how old you are Tapeworm, but I remember growing up and every day my dad read the newspaper.....the entire thing.  Whenever I would go to my grandparents (both sides), which was every weekday and most weekends until 1st grade both grandpas did the same.

Now I'm my dad's age then, and I just pick stories here, and there I want to read on the net.  And I think that's probably unusual compared to others, as it seems a lot of people just use social or go off of headlines, or YT clips to get their news.  A person has to actually seek out unbiased news "articles" now days, as what's being pushed is news "stories" and opinion shows.

Very different times we're in.

From 2:46 but more specifically 6:22

This game came out in 2001, before social media. The part here deals with the potential effects of completely unfiltered 'information', which will be preserved into the future.

Basically, huge masses of unfiltered information, most of it useless and trivial, is being preserved and passed on, whereas in the past there was some sort of basic filter, as it consisted of only what we saw on the news, magazines and newspapers.

This video might seem weird, but it has some interesting concepts, especially regarding the current internet age and its effects on polarising views.

I love how it was in the 70s, when we took what was said on the News and on the Radio as truth.

Nowadays, everything is warped by agendas and it's hard to believe anything, especially here in Leftist-controlled Sweden.

Every newspaper have an agenda.

Fuck all those "influencers" on social media as well.

i'm glad i'm not growing up as a teenager in Sweden today.

It's a shitshow.

It is not uncommon for folks to compare the great old days (which often weren't all that great), to present day in a negative light. What is a shit show is a matter of perspective.
