There are plenty of people just doing private taxi for a living but somebody out there has made up a term called "gig economy" that boasts of the freedom of these types of jobs. They used to be called shitty part-time jobs, contract work and temp jobs. It's a lowering of job expectations packaged as being beneficial and hip. In the end my point is the people have no foresight about work and are selling themselves short in the long term for an easy crap job.
