Consequences of disobeying illegal orders: While disobeying an order can have consequences, there are exceptions, and there is no obligation to follow an unlawful command.
"Just following orders" is not a defense: The Nuremberg Trials established the principle that following orders is not a valid defense for war crimes, a principle that is also applied in US courts.
