Hi guys....
So unfortunately I’ve just received some bad news that’s going to affect my ability to take part in this years Mr Olympia competition.
If you’re not aware my name was used in an investigation earlier this year concerning PED’s. I’d like to make it very clear that I did not supply any performance enhancing drugs at all.
Little did I know the gym was involved in the sale of not only PED’s but also Class A drugs. The police had been watching this chap and his wife for very long time. Since then these two people have been convicted and charged.
The lady in question got a suspended sentence and my charge is far less than hers, so no imprisonments will happen.
I’ve literally just received a letter informing me that my sentence date is the Monday 10a after the Olympia. It’s impossible for me to compete and be back in time for this.
Speaking to my legal team, we have decided that it’s best to represent myself at the hearing with all evidences and paperwork. Missing this appointment could add to my sentencing and that’s not in its best interest of myself or my family.
Life teaches you some hard lessons and call me naive but I’ve had conversations with gym owners worldwide about PEDs and wouldn’t have seen this coming. It’s unfortunate and it’s a tough pill to swallow especially knowing that I’m looking my best ever and yet to display it.
That said, there is no hurdle that I can’t jump over. It’s obstacles like this that really test us mentally and physically. I’m a fighter and a winner. So I know in 2020 I’m gonna be better than ever. My outlook on life has most definitely changed and that my mindset is stronger than ever.
I’d like to take a moment to thank my sponsors, my partner, my family and all my friends for their continued support and I can promise them that a scenario like this will never repeat.
I’d like to also apologise to the IFBB Pro League and to AMI for not being able to compete this year and can also promise them that moving forwards I will continue to represent bodybuilding in a positive light, having learned from mistakes made.
Best of luck to all who are competing this weekend in al divisions and I’ll see you all on the circuit in 20

Why is Nathan saying "View all 170 comments" at the end? What a way to end an explanation/apology!

Because it took Nathan a long time to type out those 170 comments. He wanted people to read those comments.

Nathan De Asha has pulled out of the Olympia due to his court sentence.

https://www.evolutionofbodybuilding.net/nathan-de-asha-pulls-out-of-olympia/

Just wait until the De Asha legal team smartens up the judge on how minor a role drugs play in the bodybuilding world, and that genetics, proper dieting, and adhering to the Weider Principles are what builds championship physiques!

He should call Chick as an expert witness to testify that drugs are just the finishing touch.

The first evidence will be arnold's quotes that steroids were only used a little bit before the competition.

Then there will be 8 tupperware boxes of rice and chicken, showing that eating clean food every 3 hours is the secret. Not everyone is willing to get up twice a night to eat a meal like the dedicated athlete Nathan.

Then there'll be a videolink witness testimony from Primemuscle, stripping off for the camera to show how Nathan has inspired him to keep in shape at 75.

DeAsha gets indicted on a drug charge and gets to compete, Rhoden's brought up on an unproven bullshit rape charge made by a chick that already lied to the feds in a previous case and AMI ruins his career within a day with nothing proven. Go figure

I couldn't imagine going through an entire (especially an Olympia prep) and having to pull out at the last minute. All the dieting,  drugs, training,  food for nothing? Hopefully he does the Italian show after the Olympia.

Rhoden is going to be doing the exact same thing,  but knowing he isn’t allowed to compete but still prepping

Not just indicted - pled guilty - the court appearance would have been for sentencing

All that said, I'm not sure £10k of gear will end in a custodial sentence - at least not in the UK (not sure about US fellas)

Everyone probably already knows this, but a 12 month suspended sentence isn't too bad, all things considered

However, I hadn't thought about the 'no US travel' angle - that's a shame...  :-\

"Judge David Evans told him: “As a regular competitor on the national and international stage, who has done well in bodybuilding, you are a disgrace to the sport and it is doubly sad, given how well you have done to overcome past behaviour and adversity.

“What makes your behaviour more disappointing is that you project yourself as an ambassador for the sport to children.  I hope you can make good the damage which you have done to your own reputation and to the sport.”

Julian Nutter, defending, said DeAsha had been jailed when he was younger but had used his bodybuilding skills to turn his life around.  He said DeAsha would suffer serious punishment because his conviction would prevent him travelling to the United States to compete in the future.

De Asha immediately published a statement on his official social media after he received his sentence from court.

Vindicated…. Having missed the Olympia last weekend definitely paid dividends.
In court today for my hearing, I received no jail time and this is the result I knew I was going to get despite all the rumours online.
When your heart is pure and you know you have done no wrong, it’s just about playing the waiting game.
Yes I was nervous and that’s very natural for most in this position but my inner confidence knew I’d come out of this unscathed.
The universe threw me a curve ball and how I chose to deal with it would have defined my future as an athlete. I’m proud of the steps I have taken and want to remind all of you out there…

I honestly don't know.  A quick Google didn't offer much clarity either:

"If you are coming to the USA from a Visa Waiver Country and have a previous conviction, you will most likely have to apply to get a visa to enter the country. It's a little more hassle, but unless your offense was pretty serious (in the eyes of the USA), doesn't mean that you can't come. If you are coming from a country that doesn't participate in the VWP (and isn't part of NAFTA), then you'll need to apply for a visa anyways, so no difference.

To be ineligible to recieve a visa, you would need to have committed a crime "involving moral turpitude" or related to "a controlled substance" (source: Ineligible for Visa), though if the crime was committed when you were under 18 years of age or the maximum penalty of the crime is less than 1 year or you didn't serve more than 6 months.

If you have multiple convictions, regardless of the offense, you are not allowed to obtain a USA Visa, and cannot visit the country."

I know the US treats PEDs more seriously than the UK, so the first highlighted bit doesn't bode well.  My old fart memory seems to recall a rocker (Jagger maybe?) falling foul of something like this rule.  But then I see the second bit about the sentence and I get confused...
