Mediterranean "Diet" (way of eating) is one of the healthiest around. Ive known this for ages, and do it at like 60% of the time.
Going to do it 100% full-time eating now, moving FWD after my recent cardiac calcium scan (not good hereditary stuff going on at age 53) so need to clean some things up, change the hardcore iron workouts to cardio first, then some weights/machines (lighter), etc.
(Was never big on red meat, but Salmon a few times a week will be better for me, and lots of salads, healthy oils, etc)
(My Dad died at age 47 (34 years ago) from heart disease, out of his 9 other siblings, 5 more died before age 50, 2 more in their 60's, 2 more in their early 70's.
They worked pretty hard at dying (smoking/drinking) but the bad genetics helped them go early. These days many things are better (medicine, clean eating information, exercise, etc).
Mine is very treatable, with the correct small changes (which are easy) and possibly a stent (unsure yet).
Guys here age 50 or close to it, go get a cardiac calcium scan. If you have a family history of it, just go get one if you are near age 40. Could save you..
