Yes, Jordan, that's actually a pretty accurate summary of what happened. Rather amusing, too. The fact that I used 'often recited' quotes, rather poorly, apparently, yet still managed to trick you into labeling it as 'psuedo [sic] intellectualism' is even more amusing.
I’m quite content to 'foolishly joke' about the YouTube video (I pretty much agree with his views on free speech and I'm sure he's well-meaning), but if you want a detailed, point-by point critique of his work then maybe familiarize yourself with it first and actually read it, so as to avoid being 'tricked' again and exposed as a moron. I'm sure your 'well-thought-out criticisms' of his 'bastadisation [sic] of modern concepts' are really fascinating, though. Seeing as this is obviously a subject of great importance to you, just go ahead and get this off your chest now. Tell us all about it.
Despite my keyboard typo of 'pseudo' and 'bastardisation' - I'm really not the one with egg on my face here.
You totally missed my point, incorrectly assuming that I'm a JBP fanboy who takes his ramblings as Gospel. You find it 'rather amusing' that you, quote 'tricked' me into labeling your message as pseudo * intellectualism? Well, let's stop and dissect your original message but before I do I'll preface it with this: I am not some JBP fan-boy who takes his word as Gospel, there is plenty that I disagree with.
"Well, I once rescued my father from the belly of a whale - so there's that." Ah yes, you've rescued and saved culture from the brink of decay through snide commentary on a man who publicly admits to struggling. What a noble and respectable deed.
"You see, true accomplishment can only be understood when one detaches it from its metaphysical substrate. Only then is the state of preconscious paradise fully elucidated, and the procedural, episodic, and semantic layers laid bare in order to allow accomplishment to be freed from the domain of chaos and weighed accordingly." I don't subscribe to this at all, pure word salad. This, to me (and presumably to you) is pseudo-intellectualism.

You fool, I was not tricked at all - I knew full well that you were quoting JBP (as noted in my reply) - despite not being well versed in his content Maps of Meaning I knew full well you were quoting his work. How was I tricked? I believe it is pseudo intellectualism and word salad. Your response was in no way a criticism of him, just a string of notions designed to 'trick' me..?
"Seeing as this is obviously a subject of great importance to you, just go ahead and get this off your chest now. Tell us all about it." There's not a whole lot to discuss, nor is it of great importance. I think it's disgraceful and indicative of your true character to come here and make snide remarks about anyone who is struggling, particularly in response to a wife's cancer diagnosis.
