Smoking and diabetes are the biggest risk factors.
While it's rarely inherited, I have seen it. Although, at your advanced age, a genetic transfer would have likely presented evidence before now - at least based on my experiences.

A couple thoughts

Dont ask me why, but I had the misfortune of reading the book about Flex, or the one he wrote...Anyway, the thing that I took away from it was that this was one delusional fuck-
He thought he was an "athlete", with some type of status, when in fact he was an insecure drug addict.
Second, like many guys my age ( 49), I grew up reading about guys like him and Ronnie in magazines, trying to figure out just how the hell someone could look like that.
( I was young an naive, and no internet at the time)
Anyway, if someone told me that I would look better and be more healthy /wealthy than both of them, I would have never believed it.
Its insane how I once had a degree of admiration;instead now I look at them with disgust...
