I guess you missed the bolded quote...

And 'Big George' explained to ESPN why he was "scared" of 'Iron Mike' and avoided the chance of setting up a blockbuster boxing match.

"That guy was a nightmare in the ring," the 70-year-old boxing legend said.

"If he missed you with his left, then missed you with his right, he'd bite you.

"I didn't want anything to do with that guy.

"He was sacred and I was glad of that.

"I didn't want a part of Mike Tyson."

No. Reads like he was saying he was glad Tyson was scared of him, because Tyson would be the type of fighter and person who would give him nightmares.

That mutual reluctance to fight each other explaining why they never met in the ring

I bet Foreman would've knocked out Mike Tyson had they fought between the years of 1991-1993, when Tyson was sentenced to prison. Foreman had those heavy hands and was weighing close to 260 during those years. The accumulation of those heavy punches would've dropped Tyson in the middle to later rounds of a fight. Foreman was unmatched in punching power.

Call it a day Mr Avey.

The article based on the interview is meant to somehow meant to be more accurate than the interview itself?

It's all about the matchup. Foreman went the distance with Holyfield too. Tyson was overrated. Sorry for all you Tyson nut huggers but it's true. Besides Michael Spinks, who else did he beat that was a marquee fighter? Frank Bruno? Hardly. What happened when he faced Holyfield? He got his ass handed to him. If Holyfield would've fought Tyson before he went to prison the result would've been the same. Tyson was dominant against inferior competition during his prime years.

Big George likes to talk a lot of shit.  Guarantee you he was NEVER scared of Mike Tyson.  Or anyone else he ever squared off with for that matter.  He was a mean, mean dude.

Woogs,

I've heard that one before.  Is this basically the consensus?

Didn’t help him much against Ali.

Get real.

Tyson in his prime would have killed old George.

Would have fancied Tyson stopping old Foreman in under 8 rounds. George was too slow, cumbersome at that stage. Sure, he could still punch hard but Tyson isn't some blown up LHW like Moorer.

Foreman in his prime got beat by an old Ali.

No way was an old George going to beat a young Tyson.

Your logic is awful. First of all you do realize Ali is the goat heavyweight. Second of all  styles make fights. Ali and Tyson have polar opposite styles. Tyson was made for Foreman. Ali, like Jimmy young had the perfect styles to beat Foreman. Ali would have also beat Tyson btw. Also Ali was maybe 33 when he beat George. That's not old.

Further...
The reasoning that fighter a beat fighter b therefore fighter  c can beat fighter b has no logic whatsoever. I mean since Buster Douglas thoroughly trounced a prime Tyson then we can we assume chris Byrd would have beat tyson too? No obviously we can't draw that conclusion.

Tyson wasn't in his prime when he lost to Douglas.

I watched that fight on PPV.
