Their pathetic schooling system is to blame.

I don't agree with this at all.  I put pretty much 100% of the blame on the combination of social media, technology and poor parenting.

Ask a senior in high school to divide 12 into 144 just using his head. Ask your son what CENTURY did the Civil War take place. Ask him to name the three branches of government. Name the four main countries in the Allied forces fighting the three main powers of the Axis forces in the largest war ever fought in human history. Hell, ask him what's the difference between the diameter and the circumference of a circle. Does the earth revolve or rotate around the sun?

Every generation in mankind thinks succeeding generations suck. Our grandparents had it harder then our parents, our parents had it harder then us.. Its not true.

They thought tv was going to destroy us just like we now think social media's gonna do it. I work with plenty guys in their early 20's. They out work most of the guys in their 40's and 50's.

In what field? Graphic design?  ;D

There are real workers in every generation but we are at the top of an entitled social cycle and the average 20 something is soft as charmin - mentally for sure and some physically as well.

Nobody told ANY of the people under say 35 that they would be digging ditches if they didn't do something with themselves. As for TV vs social media....TV did not inflate egos that way.

As a 25 yr old in the blue collar sector I’ve actually been told to
tone down my work ethic by the gen x boomers. But I get a long with them pretty well, I just think they’re burnt out from the work.

"millenials are ruining everything! they don't take responsibility for their actions, they aren't accountable for anything, and they are entitled!"

...thus the previous generation blames someone else for the decay of "their" world, oh brother ::)

They're not taught discipline, respect and values.

It should almost be taken as a given that most will have poor parenting and will be influenced by social media, celebrity culture etc.

So the role of schooling is perhaps even more important now to prepare them for life.

If everyone else has failed them, the schools should not.

The worst part is that if you are looking for college graduates, you basically have no choice but to hire someone who in addition to receiving the pertinent education for the job has been brainwashed to be neocommunist revolutionary. Sooner or later after hiring enough of these libtards you will have unwittingly turned your company into a battalion fighting the perpetual war for social justice.

I take it that you don't work in HR.

its a cycle

x3

Some kid grows up poor, gets sick of poverty, works like a demon to horde as much wealth as he can so his kid never has to go through the same thing.

The kid comes along and he's torn. Does the father use his wealth to give the kid the comforts he never had, or simulate the same harsh environment that made him so tough and successful? Invariably, he chooses somewhere in the middle.

Now, the son is easily confused: why is dad making things so hard for him? He gets the "lesson", but it rings false. Dad is uneducated, out of touch, and too hard--he's so self-sacrificing that there's nothing left! What's the point of working so hard, if not security and luxury? But security from what? Poverty? He lives worse than a poor person anyway, working like a dog and never indulging in the luxury that he can afford.

So the son gets a little soft... And who can blame him for being "entitled"? He had a good childhood--nothing like the hellhole dad fought his way out of. And now he has to work just as hard... For what, to become like dad? "Nah, i'll indulge," he says, and scrapes by. His inheritence is enough to ensure he never really needs to worry about himself, but what about his own son? Should he have one, or not? Well, its a tough choice. He's getting old without having made a mark. Loneliness is just around the corner... So he decides to take the plunge, overcoming indecision in a moment of recklessness.

But never having made a name for himself, how can he guide his own son? He never "succeeded", so how will he pass on the secret of success? And dad's fortune isn't enough to cover a third generation. So junior finds himself in the same shithole granddad climbed out of--son of a deadbeat, lost dad without a penny to his name--and echoes the same vow, "my kid won't have it this bad!"

Meanwhile, everyone wonders why they can't trace their family line back past three generations ::)

"Hordes of useless animals, wandering and falling without notice."

I work and hire all generations - from guys in their late 60's to women in their early 20's. There IS a change in this generation due in no small part to computers and automation. And yes, high schools blow these days. They got away from traditional methods of teaching math and science leading to a generation of retards. The colleges are far far worse than 20-30 years ago. The graduation rate at ASU (Arizona State University) over 4 years is about 55%.

As for TV destroying a prior generation? Well, it did in a way. And my parents definitely did have it harder than me. My grandparents- definitely! Living through the Great Depression and WWII was as hard as it gets. Life is a lot easier in 2019 and the current generation is weaker.

anyone else have this problem? these fuckers are worthless, 99 percent of them at least.. the entitlement, the phones, the laziness, the lingo, and just the plain stupidity... I honestly didn't think it was this bad.. I fired one last week for being 15 minutes late, 3 days in a row... he was warned  and was shocked when it really happened... and im just waiting for an excuse to get rid of the other one... id rather do the work myself or hire an illegal or a senior citizen... these kids are a waste

I don't have any out of 100 all 40 plus in the metro areas, 30 plus in the country areas, the millennial issue is far worse in the cities than the country, but its there too, but by 30 they usually have kids of their own and can still afford a house out there where they work, I find the worse millennials are the ones who still live with mom and dad so they aren't aware of any responsibilities, recipe for disaster.

No, it has never been the teachers role to be parents and providers.  I'm certainly not going to heap that upon teachers nowadays considering their compensation isn't commensurate with them taking on that role.  On the whole, teachers do a bang up job and care.  Most teachers that are there for a paycheck get weeded out fairly quick and/or don't last in the profession.  This is a technology/broken home issue.

We like to make generalizations, but there are many different situations where kids continue to live or move back in with their parents. Living with your parents past a certain age can warp your reality when it comes finances and responsibility.

There are various situations within my own immediate family that speaks to folks who live with their parents or move out as soon as possible. My four grandkids are millennials, two still live at home and two do not.

Idiocracy = Millenials.

Is this generalizing my opinion on them just like stereotyping someone?

Yup.

But just as stereotypes are often based in fact, so too are generalizations.  I know a few good people that are "millenials" but most are lazy fuckwads that get triggered by anyone with what John called a "functional IQ", i.e. his term for "common sense".

Well, that's the Generation who was told they could be anything they wanted in their upbringing. So they all thought they're gonna be self-made millionaires banging lingerie models, professional athletes or movie stars.

Now reality kicks in and they have to work for a douche like yourself for minimum wage. No wonder they're frustrated :D

This ^.

Perfectly stated.

That's why American schools have so much bullying and school shooting massacres compared to other countries.

Many countries schools follow the system I mentioned.

But perhaps for those not brought up in such a system, and not experiencing it first hand, it will be hard to understand.

The role of a good school is to make every student a better version of themselves as well. Teaching discipline, respect, respecting rules and having an orderly system, wearing their uniform correctly, looking neat at all times etc

I am still a working man and therefor I am around them during the day.  At my age I could retire but choose to contribute to my job for as long as I can.

This is not meant as a slight to those that are retired so please do not go there as I have already put you in your place with astonishing ease more than once this evening and it is more than apparent that you don't come here for the hunting.

Do I need to clarify that last statement?  I am in no mood to teach you another life lesson.

I'm just now starting to only hire retired, but now bored people.  I'll report back..

I have too many stories to tell with these youngsters.. Just sick of them..

Update:  "Retired but bored" employees are pretty much a C average.. They are slower at learning (especially computers) and below average at any hard labor also sales, but they are more respectful and way more reliable.
