My gay friend [an American bender] told me he stopped going to gay pride parades because one bender was basically urinating on another bender, and he informed the organizer of the parade, who basically did nothing about it.
Your gay rights have already been won. In Canada, for example, something like 82% of people tolerate homosexuality, and I wouldn't be surprised if the 18% who don't are either themselves gay, or are simply Muslims we imported in the past couple of decades.
Either way, moaning on about how people don't tolerate you when you live in the most gay-tolerant society to have ever existed in human history is repulsive.
I never had a problem with the gay community until I realized what resentful assholes with chips on your shoulders that some of you are. If you stopped being pricks, pissing and shitting on one another in gay pride parades while wearing leather costumes, and spreading sexual infections at rates massively higher than the average, a lot of people who have issues with the LGBT community wouldn't have those issues.
I live in tolerant Canada. Take my word for it - I had NO problem with gay people prior to the recent issues stemming from your community such as the sexual degeneracy happening at your pride parades, fake hate crimes, and other crap like that.
No one is afraid of you. No one hates you. People have good reason to be annoyed with the gay community at this point.
