Dexter Jackson...
« on: December 27, 2019, 11:19:13 AM »
Why is Dexter struggling doing 30 pound spider curls?  ??? ???

He’s groaning like it’s a 90 pound dumbbell. I’ve seen gym rats do 35 pound dumbbells  without making a peep.

Gym rats... hell, even total novices are capable of that.

40 years of putting time in the gym has sure given Dexter some brutal strength!   ::)

maybe because hes working his biceps and not his traps and upper back, not to mention his legs and hips that most people, do when doing barbell curls

Guessing he's at the end of his workout and the pain from his pump is what's fatiguing him / causing him pain, not the actual weight.
(At least I hope).

Lots of water in those arms, stretching that facia. (Juice muscles are mostly agua distilada). Ron Partlow told a story recently about losing 18 lbs. overnight.
(Pissing and sweating).

I remember reading an article I think in MuscleMag, where I think it was Rick Valente, who cold-turkey went off gear, and pissed all night long and was 20 pounds lighter the next morning.

H2O Muscles of Piss...(Deflated tissue when done).

Then call me an imbecile. He’s changed my mindset to where you don’t have to train that heavy to still grow. When we train it isn’t that much heavier than what Dexter is doing. Although when we train legs, it’s heavy. Our only disagreement is that I like to regular squat twice a month

there doesnt seem to be a wrong way or a right way, people throwing weights around haphazard and people with strict form, all with great physiques

Seems as long as you do something you will improve

Charles is a good guy, I dont get the hate, he will tell you what you need to do and if your body is capable of doing it. Only person and body I really saw him struggle with was Dillet and his back, he just couldn't get around pauls delts and arms to isolate his back to improve lat width, I doubt anyone could have, I really think Nasser could have improved under Glass, similar with Strydom, but they both could never really cross the race divide. Charles is a long term hard working guy. usually the first to arrive and last to leave. Saying that I only go through once or twice a year the last decade but like the old equipment he's still there.

I tend to agree, injuries from heavy lifting can make you inconsistent, i honestly believe both Dorian and Ronnie could have reached their peak without destroying their bodies. Might have taken longer thats all.

This is a fact. Even against Doctors orders (and everyone else’s) he was back sooner than expected after his heart attack and stroke. He had Clay training everyone while he was out but when he came back he was training people on a Cain and an eye patch. Even went to the expos and Olympia after that

Training heavy is great when you're in your 20's and 30's. Maybe into your 40's too. The joints have a limited function life as well as connective tissue like tendons under heavy weight. The majority of big bench press guys I know can't bench any serious weight now. Three raw 400lbs plus bench press guys are lucky if they can bench 225 on a good day due to injuries to their shoulders and elbows. Something to be said for working out for muscular endurance like Danny Padilla and host of others did. Training toward endurance exhaustion instead of strength exhaustion with volume will take you further than chasing the poundage. That's my 2 cents.

That doesn't seem to make sense. On the day you stop taking all gear it's not like you're clean the next day. It takes a while for levels to drop. If your total Test is 6,000 ng/ml it will take at least a month if not more to drop to normal levels once you stop.

I trained heavy my early years of training, basic compound movements like everyone else

For the past decade I’ve been using moderate weights, less rest, and more sets and reps

Honestly, it really isn’t rocket science

What's the rep range Charles likes to hover around? And if not squats what's his main go to exercise, if any?

You don't know what you are talking about. O'hearn benches 500+ incline just warming up, all natural too. Stop the hate.

The Valene one, since being in a mag, could be embellished. I believe Ron's story though of the 18 lbs. of water lost overnight sweating and non-stop pissing (a diuretic was used).
(He has before/after pic's and Aceto confirmed it). (Weekend before a show).

Yes, I believe that. I'll routinely lose 10lbs over night if I sleep in (12 hours). If direutics are used the water drops fast.
