What's the rep range Charles likes to hover around? And if not squats what's his main go to exercise, if any?

With legs it’s right around 10-12. For squats he likes the V-squat. When I trained with him and Dexter we went up too 7plates. Legs on the compound movements are heavy.

Guessing he's at the end of his workout and the pain from his pump is what's fatiguing him / causing him pain, not the actual weight.
(At least I hope).

Lots of water in those arms, stretching that facia. (Juice muscles are mostly agua distilada). Ron Partlow told a story recently about losing 18 lbs. overnight.
(Pissing and sweating).

I remember reading an article I think in MuscleMag, where I think it was Rick Valente, who cold-turkey went off gear, and pissed all night long and was 20 pounds lighter the next morning.

H2O Muscles of Piss...(Deflated tissue when done).

Oof!  Those numbers made my kidneys ache...  :-X  That's what?  25-30 standard cans of soda maybe..?

You don't know what you are talking about. O'hearn benches 500+ incline just warming up, all natural too. Stop the hate.

Exceptions to every rule. You sound like the smoker that says my grandfather smoked his whole life and lived to be 80.  Yes for the majority it's a risk to health and longevity. Heavy training catches up with the majority.  O'Hearn is a freak of nature. Very impressive with the weights he uses. Is he a natural? Only he knows for sure. If he is a natural he should do  cycle and wipe the Olympia floor and collect that check and endorsements. A lot of guys claim natural because they don't take the quantity of the pros.

Why is Dexter struggling doing 30 pound spider curls?  ??? ???

He’s groaning like it’s a 90 pound dumbbell. I’ve seen gym rats do 35 pound dumbbells  without making a peep.

Then call me an imbecile. He’s changed my mindset to where you don’t have to train that heavy to still grow. When we train it isn’t that much heavier than what Dexter is doing. Although when we train legs, it’s heavy. Our only disagreement is that I like to regular squat twice a month

I wouldn’t be surprised if Dexter follows the same path as Ronnie and Flex Wheeler. He has been luckier he hasn’t broken down yet.  I just can’t picture him drug free and doing something else.

Not too long ago Dexter had a torn bicep. That is probably why he is training lighter.

Listening to some of these geniuses, criticizing a FIFTY-YEAR-OLD former Mr. Olympia, who STILL IS among the top 5 bodybuilders on the planet, is quite comical.

I believe you do have to train heavy but not on all exercises. And "heavy" to me is the most weight you can use, for the most reps, with the TARGET MUSCLE doing the work.

When I bench press, I do it the way Leroy Colbert and Serge Nubret did, with my hands as close to the collars as possible. Usually, I have to use a Smith machine, because the uprights on today's regular benches are wide. The old-school ones were narrow, like this:

No more free-weight squats (at least not with poundages beyond my bodyweight) are in my routine. And my back and knees are oh-so-grateful for it. Any overhead tricep extensions (barbell or dumbbell are out). It's either dips or tricep pushdowns.

Awhile back, I was popping glucosamine pills like Skittles, because my joints were killing me. Now, after revamping my training, I haven't touched them for several months (almost a year).

Dex has the right idea. He has paid his dues with the heavy iron. He need not apologize to anyone for how he trains now. You don't go from being a bantamweight to Mr. O, without being smart with your training and diet.

When I was 61 years old I did 3 sets of 12 on flyes with the 75 pound dumbells while weighing around 168 pounds.....textbook form on a small amount of Test only........gotta be honest or my buddy oldtimer will kill me!  LOL  ;D

All my life I trained like a fucking man possessed, it was a badge of honor to torture yourself and to try to outdo others.

Looking back with new found insight I grossly overtrained but training hard was the thing I loved.... not competing though I did over 60 contests.

I loved to train balls out and when people thought I couldn`t eke out one more rep,I would squeeze out another 3 or 4.

If I had to train with Dexter I couldn`t even though it would be an honor I would feel like a wuss even though I still know better I would train my guts out................just the way we came up.

Glen Clark..........and a few zillion other guys I came up with that would bury Dexter and the pansy ass fux in todays so called gyms. in the gym.

All these guys would have laughed at Dexters training and thought he was just kidding around.

I honestly would have pteferred to train like a freak rather than to look like one.................I loved to challenge myself against the iron and the clock.

Still...it must suck to age even more for someone like Dexter than a member of the normal population.  As soon as he goes off gear, he's going to look decidedly normal...and likely with hormonal imbalances to boot.  He is the Gordie Howe of bodybuilding though.

Gym rats... hell, even total novices are capable of that.

40 years of putting time in the gym has sure given Dexter some brutal strength!   ::)

As if Dex, at age 50, needs to prove how strong he is. He's paid his dues (probably longer than most of his critics have been alive, some of the same critics that turn around and bash Ronnie Coleman and Johnnie Jackson for "ego lifting" and using too much weight).

He won't look decidedly normal, at all. This idea that Dex is suddenly going to turn into Chris Rock's "Pookie" character from "New Jack City", once he "goes off gear" is laughable.

Besides, he'll be retired, with multiple titles under his belt, when he does ride off into the sunset. Plus, unlike most of us, he'll be able to say that (for at least a year) he was the best in the world at what he did (when it comes to bodybuilding).

I totally agree that`s why I said would rather train like a freak than to look like one.

Dex is an awesome bodybuilder but I`d crush him in the gym using poundages respective to our bodyweights.

I always said that I could keep up or surpass anyone in the gym and this has always come to fruition.

I`d keep up with Ronnie in his prime ,only instead of 800 pound deadlifts,I`d be forced to use 700 pounds due to my lighter bodyweight and sparrow like bone structure.

I think Dexter will be fairly thin off gear.  He's only maybe 215-lb juiced to the max...I can't see him being more than 165-lb off gear.

Im not sure about now, but Dexter used to bench 365 for 8 reps or so.

I think in his MuscleTime DVD, he actually bench pressed 405 for reps.  Although I can't recall how many reps.

I take pride in using light weights as much as possible, I try and make every set count, never waste a set, and try and make the muscle work as much as possible through the set without trying to hit rep goals by using ancillary muscles to get the job done

I don’t doubt that at all.

He was benching 365 in a BFTO DVD... about 2 weeks before the Olympia in 2004

A mere pittance for one such as I  !!

No one even mentioned my 700 pound deadlifts.......I feel slighted.
