They go from skinny 150 lbs to a massive 280 lbs in 10 years, then just stop making any improvements in their physique for 10 years+ as pro's. I don't get it. They put 130 lbs of mass in 10 years training in their teens and 20's, then in their 30's they just stop making any progress until they retire

I think it was former Getbig member body88 who explained it to me like this - to go from having 12.5" biceps to 17" biceps is easier than going from 17" biceps to 21.5" biceps.

To put on each inch of muscle mass in the beginning is easier than putting on successive inches of muscle mass.

A Few Thoughts.

Law of Diminishing Returns
As they Reach Maximum Development Potential the gains become ever harder to achieve

It’s like that in most sports as you begin reaching the limits the increases are very Marginal
Look at the Progression of most world records.

Will someone come along this year & Take a half second off the 100mtrs world Record
Possibly- Though I highly doubt it.

Exactly.  And as IroNat sad, they have reached their genetic limits.

Much better to just focus on conditioning once a pro card is achieved.  I suppose over time, some bodybuilders have gotten bigger after turning pro - without completely destroying their lines and proportions -  but by and large, I would say they are maxed out at that time.

Phil Heath made considerable improvements to his legs and back once he turned pro.  So it does happen.  But then you have pros like Art Atwood who turned pro in 2001 at 235-lb, and was competing at the 2003 Mr. Olympia contest at 285-lb, at great cost to the proportions he formally had.

most guys are pretty much done size wise after 5 years of consistant training eating and supp use...

I think its down to metabolic rate, your body can only convert so much food to muscle tissue, guys used to turn pro and hardly gain any more size, its only since Dorian when insulin started being a staple did guys still carry on growing after turning pro

They get lazy and complacent. Parasitic syncophants tell them how wonderful they are all day. "You don't need one more rep, bro." They drink expensive single malts and eat croquembouche. They sit on their ass in a sauna instead of doing cardio. They use the vibrating leather belt apparatus around their belly instead of doing barbell work which doesn't target their core directly but which trains the core indirectly because the core is involved in the movement which is why 4 squats is the equivalent of seven dragon flags or 3 Czechoslovakian Crunches (Soviet Style).
