Q for Bob.
« on: April 17, 2006, 10:45:55 AM »
Bob - congratulations on your victory BTW.
Job well done, especially after putting pressure on yourself and announcing that you are going to bring that title back to California.

Now, my question is:
We were talking about having official score sheets from the IFBB pro shows with greater detail than before.
We were going to have decisions of EACH AND EVERY judge in EACH AND EVERY round...Instead we now have LESS information as recent official scoresheets have prejudging results combined (as round 1 + round 2) and than separately we have rounds 3 and 4...

What happened to our request?

This is not complaint - only a question. ;D

Milos,

Wow man, real pleasure to see a legend like you contributing here.  As to your question however, I think its more likely that you will find proof that Elvis is still alive than get a legitimate, honest response from Bobchick-O The Clown.

Hey Milos-

Thanks for the props....

Thats a good question. As you know, I submitted to have the individual scores from the judges made public...which they agreed to do. I think it's only fair for the judges to be made responsible for their score.

I'm not really in favor of the combined scoring, either...As we've discussed before, my problem was always with the alledged "rounds" which really arent scored as they should reflect.

I believe (only a guess, as I havent had a conversation with Manion about it, yet..) that they are tweaking the judging/ scoring system to please all parties.

Every competitor was instructed in the Athletes meeting before the show that they would have access to the individual scores on request...and as I remember it...they SHOULD be available ASAP, on the official IFBB website for  display.

I'll try and get some more detailed info, as I too, would like some clarification....

Milos could have not even dieted down, stayed drunk for a week and still look better than Chickarino.  Of course would have still "won" the show....

Thanks Bob.

If athletes really CAN get individual scoresheets - than we made a step foreword.
However, WHY wouldn't original scoresheets be available to everyone?

In every other sport official scores are announced immediately...and judges are responsible for their decisions.
While I am not saying that judging bodybuilding (fitness and figure) shows is easy task - I am saying that ones and for all judges have to tell us and general public HOW they judge those shows.

If it is point system - how are those points being awarded.
If it's something else - I am sure we would all like to know.

Problem is AS WE ALL KNOW - there are no guidelines judges have to follow except for their own subjective opinion.
It is always general answer: best physique wins...but that has NEVER been the case.

Is muscle mass more important (more points?) than symmetry?
Is balance important at all or having absolutely freaky body part work in athletes favor?

Is condition more important than any other aspect of judging?

We should have some crystal clear (OK doesn't have to be a crystal but at least be clear...) explanations and public should also be aware what judges are looking for.

If I judge the show - I would have no problem answering my placings in each and every round.
Why don't we have magazines interview all the judges after every show?

If some of those interviews are published than ALL OF US would have something AS A REFERENCE...
That would be a good start.

The only problem with magazines doing the interviews it would still take months before the published results appeared.  Maybe some trusted 3rd party websites would be a good choice, but I do like this general idea.

Gratz Bob,
I have posted this about 4 times but I keep picking threads that get deleted (Note to self: Stop posting in threads about conspiracies)

I have my own judging question.  The closing date on your proposal below has surely passed.  Has this item been resolved or is it still pending?  I like the posing round and I am not sure if I want it to be a consolation prize.

BTW Milos, did you vote?   ;)

F. Recommend current IFBB scoring format be replaced by NPC system of scoring and/or amended, specifically the posing round.

-Eliminate posing round except for entertainment value.
-All registered male and female bodybuilding athletes must vote.  Registered athletes will be contacted by their respective athlete rep.  Please send vote responses to respective reps by 15 Dec 05.
-Optional for the promoter to provide prize money or a trophy.

Mr. Manion tabled this item for a vote:  Motion was accepted however, awaiting voting results from registered athletes (Item Open).

Milos,

While I don't claim to have your bodybuilding cred, I have been a fan of the sport since Frank Zane was winning the O, and to me the Master's O winner was Rusty Jeffers. I wasn't even close. You thoughts, sir.

Wow, Bob Chick looks soft and smooth compared to Jeffers in those pics, look at the difference between their pecs. It's not even close.

Legend has it the judges scoresheets were actually BBing.com's 10-K statements.

Has Chick sent you any gloating personal messages yet? Has he made any public statements yet? He seems to be awfully quiet but you just know he's monitoring this site like an eagle hunting a rabbit.

I think Chick looked good as well but he didn't beat Jeffers and it was close between Pavol and Chick as well.
