I can't believe no one mentioned Lee Haney. I have met him on a few occassions. He is the nicest person you ever want to meet. I ran into once at a local Ford dealership and we talked for a long time as if he new me. He introduced my wife and me to his wife. He told her how I had placed 3rd at the Jr USA. The man ministers to people all over the country. He has a ranch for at risk boys here in the Atlanta area. These are kids who come from low income or single parent families etc. Its located in College Park. There are mentor programs available and the ranch is partnered with many churches in the community. They offer outdoor sports, nature trails, outdoor camping site, hay rides, petting zoo, and horseback riding. The goal is to help these boys grow up to be responsible men. Lee also holds an annual event called Lee Haney's Ultimate Teen Challenge which is a competition set up sort of like a strong man competition/bodybuilding show. I am taking some of the kids I coach at my school to compete this weekend. There will be a truck push, tire flip, bench for reps, and teen bodybuilding contest.
I would even say he is the bravest bodybuilder for stepping away from the competitive arena after winning the Olympia a record 8 times and taking on the role of ministering to people to try and save some souls on this planet.
