His character really was the backbone of the miniseries.
It takes a lot of intelligence to be so meticulous about being creepy and playing dumb.
I don't know how he did it but he made creepy really interesting and and kind of snowballed it into the lead role.
And, he did it with little movement, by just waving his hand, showcasing his muscle, a little sweat, a shifting mood, dead eyes and a little snarling in his speech.
He played the perfect bad guy. You just don't get that in today's films. I loved the simplicity of it.
I mean how good do you have to be to be admired for playing the bad guy? Even 40 years after?
