As of this morning before breakfast, no water, no coffee...nothing. 217.5, 6.71% BF

Useless without pics. 11 weeks is not a lot of time. How did you measure your bodyfat?

This guy knows what he is talking about.

11 weeks puts me waaaay ahead of schedule since I’ve been mostly dieting since the end of January. I’m 6.71 now, I stepped on stage and won last year at 4.8% and that was measured after I carbed up on Friday and Saturday morning the day of the show.

Jerry is right, genetics plays a huge part in fat distribution. My lower abs and low back are always the last to go and usually it’s gone the week of the show in the depletion phase.

I start dieting early so I don’t have to kill myself. The most difficult part of my diet is during the last week in the depletion phase (if needed)

For whatever reason I can’t load pics on here from me phone otherwise I’d post a pic where I was 251 with abs

the drier you are the higher your BF% because your water percentage of your overall weight is less

If you were 5% onstage dry as a bone then two days later when you have added 15lbs of water and no fat would make your BF% even lower, no one looking at you would say your BF % was lower they would call you smooth.

no, I suggest BF % are a load of bollocks if you are going off being in shape onstage

Hahaha. Our resident coach wants to post another thinly veiled show-off thread, and you still have to post some trump shit.

Deranged. Seek help man, he owns your mind. I feel your condition could be fatal after his second win.
i was merely responding to the second wave comment. and to put some color and keep the thread going till coach posts an update with some picture and videos which i'm sure he'll do. thanks for your concern as to my current mental state though.

Good point and true..

It seems everyone always overlooks this simple point
They claim Muntzer was 3% when in fact he was probably at around 6 or 7, maybe more due to how dry he came in.
A waterlogged guy would in fact have an overall lower BF %
BF% are irrelevant..its down to how dry you are.

Gotta love the critics on here that thinks I’m lying...lol. What do you use for a baseline to prepare for a show? I use two methods mainly and another at my Dr’s

1. 7pt skin fold

2. Hydrostatic

Sounds like when most people on here get ready for a show they’ll just “wing it” but at this point 6.7 isn’t contest shape and just started my precontest cycle about a week and a half ago.

But enough here. I would say if someone is going to talk crap or criticize, come do the show(s) with me.

Ontario; Toronto area still no open gyms.  I think the only way to cross the border now is by flying, but they still have a rule in place that you are supposed to quarantine for 14 days after visiting US.  Hoping gyms will reopen in  the next couple weeks, and border restrictions will ease up by August.

I posted a valid point which you chose to ignore...
I wasn't talking crap or criticising you

Your BF% is totally irrelevant to onstage condition if you dont get your water levels right.

And if you are 6.7% now what would it be if you dried out now for two days with diuretics?

That was dried out. If you read the first post I said this was within an hour of waking, no food, no water and the night before a thiazide. I was as dry as I could be. This is what I do every week. BF isn’t irrelevant. So I’ll ask you again, besides looking in the Mirror or getting validation from others, how do you measure your progress? How do you what your baselines are if you don’t monitor your progress?

If I stepped on stage now at 6.7 dry and someone else comes in at lets say 5.5 holding a little, conditioning wise and depending on the genetics, I’d more than likely get beat on conditioning

That's why a lot of bodybuilders will be surprised when they hear Jerry Brainum say when asked what percent a bber is at on stage, "A ripped bber will be anywhere from 5-7%, and I'm talking shredded. There are a couple of rare guys that can get to 4%..."

There is a lot of baloney in regard to BF percentage claiming 2-4% and the laughable Coleman claiming 3% offseason and .333 onstage. I'm surprised nobody in the bbing media has called him on this laughable claim.

Mirror and feedback from a trusted person..thats it, skin fold tests are OK as a guide that you are coming down in fat but as for estimating your % they are inaccurate
And you seriously go and dunk yourself in water to get a measurement that is also not that accurate, even the best tests can be out bu 2-3%

Fair play to you if thats what you do,. I couldn't be bothered.

With my genetics for getting hard, I just feel like I need to implement those guides. The hydrostatics are done at a college where testing is done with athletes everyday but I’ll only go in about once or twice a month.

I don’t (not that you or anyone else does) like to go into a show not thinking I did everything I could to win. I don’t have that mentality which is why I didn’t do the Nationals last year 8 weeks after I won the Cal. I’m not a big person and felt I needed to add more size to compete and win at that level. I can’t just jump into shows because I feel like it, it has to have a purpose.

so if you get up in the morning and look in the mirror and think "yep, bang on the money this week" and then you do the callipers or the water tank and it tells you you have regressed or made no progress what do you do?
Do you ignore what you see and trust the callipers and the water tank or trust the mirror on what you do next?
