IF A HUMMER WOULD OF CONVINCED SOMEONE LIKE GUSTAVO OR  RUHL TO ATTEND THEN THE SHOW THEN IT WOULD BE WORTH IT BUT WHEN THE MAIN MAN IS TBA U DONT FIND IT WORTH FLYING TO DENVER AND STAYING AT A HOTEL PLUS MEALS AND VENUE TICKETS

PLus, while Shawn is a Christian man who wouldn't cheat or lie...

There is a general perception among BBing fans that many things in Pro BBing are "fixed".

If the judging results, athletes rep intentions, competing athlete lists, affiliated charitable org donations, and other things are a *tad* shady, this shadow of doubt falls on fan contests too. Sad but true.

Actually, I like the idea of a 'fan' who actually goes to an expo, an event gets something out of it for attending and contributing.

Besides the Hummer, there are other prizes too, including a flat-screen television...

I would like the list of the fans who get the prizes though...

As for giving it to a pro, yes, it would be cool, but then again, cries of fixed would be yelled at. Here, Shawn is actually doing something for the fans of bodybuilding. Nice...

Well here is the problem with giving it to a fan.  Only ONE fan is happy.  Fans could care less about getting something free.  They want a good show.  They don't mind paying money for something if they get something back for their money.  It amazes me how you think giving away a Hummer to ONE fan is more imporatant that taking care of your fellow pros.  The fans are taken care of as long as you have a fun, exciting and worthwhile show.  DO you honestly think giving away a Hummer to ONE person is going to keep 1000 paying fans happy when the sound is fucked up, the lighting goes out, the show is unorganized or the show is clearly fixed.  Not saying any of this will happen, but it is obvious you have not planned for the worse.  You could have saved $15,000 a gave away a Mini-Cooper which more people would have enjoyed and used the extra money to pay expenses to the pros.  Sorry the Hummer to the ONE fan is not a good idea.  And, it brings in NO money.  Your expo is free and you don't need to purchase anything to win it.  A little more advice, when you give something away like this try to recoup as much as possible by having some way to generate money.  I can see (even though I doubt it) people parking their cars out front of the center running in filling out a few of the entry slips and leaving.  Coming back for the drawing if neccessary.  Believe me it would have been a 1000 times better if you had a local bank or even the auto dealership have a booth at your show, with one of those wheels on it that you spin like at a fair.  Have prizes ranging from clothes and supplements to money like $100, $1000 and even $5,000 and also a space for the Hummer.  Have them donate some money to a local charity that can be in the booth helping out.  Half the money to the charity and half the money to the promoter.  You will have lines out the door wanting the chance to win a Hummer or allot of cash.  The Hummer giveaway is a waste.  Sorry.

Would you rather win a Mini-Cooper than a Hummer?

mmkey..

I can't believe some people are critical of the idea.  The more people brought in by the right promotions, the more the event grows each year the more the sport grows and when sports grow the money the athletes make goes up too.  Now I know it's just a car.  Candy to entice people to a new event.  Not stupid at all for a new event!.  Public opinion of Bodybuilding as a sport is probably at it's lowest point in the last 20 years.  All the steriod BS in the media and people look to bodybuilders as the biggest users wether it's true or not.  Arnold being more unpopular than he ever has in his whole career.  Idiots like titus really fking things up.  Man, even if you guys don't like Shawn a person, you should be all over supporting this or anybody who is trying to build the sport in some way.  I'm just a fan who wants to see the sport i've watched for 20 years get better.  I'm all for anybody trying to do that.  I don't give a crap if Chick is an ass or Shawn a smartass.  Who cares man.  Is it about bodybuilding or not?  The hummer will be the deciding factor to a percent of people coming to the show.  Maybe they bring family or friends.  Some of them are going to be introduced to bodybuilding for the first time and be hooked.  It's not a bad idea.

No but I am part of the minority.  The bigger guy more macho guy is going to want the Hummer.  The more mainstream person including women and energy conscience people are going to want the Mini.  Stylish, fast, quick fun to drive and manuvers awesome the mini is a great car.  But for people like me I would choose the Hummer.  If I had the choice though I would pick a Escalade or Excursion over the H3.  H3's are everywhere.  I like the original Hummer over the H3 too.  And with gas at $3+ a gallon yes most people will want the Mini.
You could sell the hummer, buy a cooper and have cash left.

Ah Onlyme, AKA Keith, you already had a shot at Promoting a show and lost your AZZ, please your advice is falling on deaf ears.
Sit back in Hawaii, run to the boards when the show is over to see how we did and you can comment third person information all you want.
Your promotion speaks volumes foe why your no longer promoting.

I'm all in favor of constructive criticism....BUT, is Shawn actually getting criticized for giving away a Hummer H3 to a bodybuilding fan??  The sponsor of the event wants a fan to drive off in a new car.  How can anyone possibly cast a negative spin on that?  -- Denver is a terrific city...the venue is gorgeous...a fan wins a Hummer...Phil Heath makes his pro debut along side Darrem Charles, Ahmad Haidar, David Henry, the return of Gary Strydom.....

I can't believe I'm going to say this but I agree with Shawn, I don't see how he's getting criticized for giving away an H3 to a fan. This is nothing but a good idea, high end door prizes raise the quality of the show.

I feel like I need a shower.

Well now he has to give away a Hummer at least at every other he does.  He can't go down in quality.  But the way it looks unless he is dumber than everyone knows this will be he only show.  Too big a mouth with NO experience.  Just another dumbshit.
Are you sane?  Stop and think about what you just said.  You think it's a guy with no experience who knows you have to give something to get something?  Your experience says don't bother to promote the show because the promotions have to go up year to year?  Where'd you come up with that business plan genius?

approx 26,000 for a mini s convert.  You'll have no problem selling an H3 in Colorado and having a few thousand left.  If I remember from another thread, the H3 was something like 34,000 with the extras???
