I work part time at a liquor store. We sell lots of Woodford and Basil Hayden. The other 3 as well but not as much as those two.

Those are some I pulled from a compilation of best bourbon lists. Of course the really hard to get ones like Blankston and Pappy weren't available. I'd like to try them one day but I'm not paying someone inflated re-sell for the opportunity.

I work part time at a liquor store, delivering liquor to bars and restaurants in the local area, Charleston, SC. We have a special closet for the really valuable stuff, all allocated to the high end restaurants in the area. We had to hand carry those Pappy bottles to the customer, extreme low volume sent out to us. You will never see anything from that closet out on the floor for the regular walk in customer, maybe Buffalo Trace or Blantons if we have a lot. But the others? No way

Buffalo Trace and Blanton's are still very common.  BT comes from the same place as Pappy.

What are those bottles going for?

If you're looking for a good, middle of the road Scotch, consider Oban 18.

The Weller full proof, single barrel, and the William Larue Weller are all on my white whale list of the bottles I'd buy.
I have so many I'm picky now to what I' d purchase.

....just torture to see that pic :'(

Buffalo Trace is a $30 bottle. Blantons is distilled  by Buffalo Trace.  did you mean something other than Buffalo Trace?

No, those two are both allocated for restaurants and bars where I work. We have other stuff on the shelves more pricey so I’m not really sure why we keep those two in the back? I know the volume we have on hand is never that high (never more than 10 cases or so) and we service hundreds of businesses, so only so much to go around I would think.

I think Oban 18 was the first "good" scotch I tried.

I'm mostly Bourbon, but switch to scotch for a week like once every two years.

Do you do any flavored bourbon?

Only for the occasional gimmick shot/drink on NYE or something.

The Skrewball peanut butter whiskey is surprisingly great.

My guess on why is for example, the Blankston retails for $66, However it only comes out once a year and in limited quantities so opportunists quickly buy up the stock for resale to make money off of it. I think that is why most liquor stores reserve it for either like you said high end restaurants or in my case the place i usually frequent has a members program where if you spend enough per year, you get a special invitation to purchase a bottle at regular retail price.  So while initially it's not expensive the limited amount makes it highly sought after.

No, but I have tried a few bourbons that have been put in wine, port, and even curacao barrels after they've been poured out of their original barrels.

...Isaac Bowman Port barrel finish is the best I've tried. I'ts available in your area.I have to go to NY to get it.
cool story behind it,It's actually made at Buffalo trace in Kentucky, sourced to A Smith Bowman in Virginia, then re-barreled again for the third time in the Port barrels.

I already tasted the glen 15 and consider to be a smooth and delicate one but ... ? Whisky enthusiast please enlighten me on my purchase

Gentlemen. A bump for Ardbeg An Oa.

It might eclipse my beloved Lag 16. It bests the already awesome Ardbeg 10 imo.

Sherry. Cherry. Bit of salt. Lingering pepper. Granddaddy's wood plane. Christmas morning fireplace. Toffee leather finish.

Pair with good cheddar and walnuts. Trust me.

Goddamn. If you're a scotch guy. I don't know how they do this.
