2Q GDP estimate is -1.0%.  If confirmed, we're in a recession.

Biden’s EPA Has America’s Biggest Oil Field In Its Regulatory Crosshairs
Shore News Network ^ | June 30, 2022 | Max Keating, The Daily Caller News Foundation
Posted on 6/30/2022, 10:34:35 PM by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s deadline for the Biden administration to respond to his request that they cancel an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposal passed on Wednesday, and he now plans to take action to protect the nation’s gasoline supply himself.

The proposed regulations take aim at the Permian Basin, the largest oil field in the United States, accounting for 95,000,000 gallons of gasoline per day or 40% of the oil produced domestically, according to the Texas Governor’s Office.

Abbott claimed that the EPA’s proposal would further raise gas prices for consumers when fuel already costs more than $5 per gallon in much of the country, according to a letter he sent to the administration Monday. Abbott pledged that if he did not hear back from the administration by June 29 that he would take action to “protect the production of oil—and the gasoline that comes from it.”

“Even as Americans are struggling with $5 gas and record-breaking inflation, team Biden continues to double down on their political commitments to ‘end all fossil fuels,” former EPA Chief of Staff Mandy Gunasekara told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Abbott’s letter comes after the EPA announced last week that it was considering reversing a 2017 ruling that the basin was in compliance with air pollution standards. For that decision the EPA cited emissions levels from the basin from 2014-2016 to determine that operations were in accordance with federal regulations, but environmentalists say air quality has declined precipitously since then, Argus Media reported.

Abbott does not dispute the increased air pollution in his letter, but rather focuses on the practical implications of constraining domestic oil supply at a time of record high prices.

Biden Apparently Thinks $5 Gas Isn't Painful Enough - His EPA Is Attacking America's Largest Oilfield
The Western Journal ^ | July 1, 2022 at 5:34am | Elizabeth Stauffer
Posted on 7/1/2022, 12:01:56 PM by E. Pluribus Unum

In case you were wondering whether the Biden administration could do anything more to cripple the U.S. fossil fuel industry, the answer is yes.

The Environmental Protection Agency is considering an “ozone violation designation” for portions of the Permian Basin, the largest oil field in the United States, according to Bloomberg News. The Permian Basin is located in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico.

In a letter to President Joe Biden on Monday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott warned that this action “could lead to skyrocketing prices at the pump by reducing production, increase the cost of that production, or do both.”

Advertisement - story continues below
The Permian Basin, he informed the president, accounts for 25 percent of our nation’s gas supply — 95 million gallons per day — and 40 percent of all oil produced domestically.

Abbott emphasized that this decision was entirely discretionary and that Biden had the power to stop it.

Biden administration tells Americans to suck it up on that $5 gas: Having failed to bring energy prices down, they now say it's all for a good cause
American Thinker ^ | 07/01/2022 | Monica Showalter

It's astonishing how out of touch the Joe Biden administration is with voters. We're talking about tin ears, brains and bodies.

A reporter asked a White House official about those soaring energy prices at the pump -- the number one issue occupying likely voters' attention, according to a recent Rasmussen poll -- and got this:

CNN: "What do you say to those families that say, 'listen, we can't afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years?’"

BIDEN ADVISOR BRIAN DEESE: "This is about the future of the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm." pic.twitter.com/LWilWSo72S — Breaking911 (@Breaking911) July 1, 2022

How inspiring. Seems that releasing the Strategic Petroleum Reserves did nothing to bring down high energy prices, and blaming Putin didn't resonate with the public. So now it's the New World Order as the hill we die on. Can you say 'pathetic'?

It seemed to be part of a sync'd talking points memo that Joe and his pathetic minions all read from:

Biden says Americans will have to stomach high gas prices “as long as it takes” to beat back Putin’s invasion of Ukraine https://t.co/npiUbJaZDl — Bloomberg (@business) June 30, 2022

Thanks for volunteering us, Joe...

Some let us know what the Big Idea is with these no-end-in-sight soaring prices at the pump:

Biden Energy Sec. Granholm triples down on ‘green’ as ‘the only way out’ of high gas prices | Climate Depot https://t.co/Tm2jp637zJ — Marc Morano (@ClimateDepot) June 28, 2022

And the bottom line here is that it's not happening -- there's no end in sight for soaring fuel prices, and there's certainly no greenie economy arising as a result of it -- for this reason right here:

Insane.

High gas prices worth it for 'future of liberal world order,’ White House economics adviser tells CNN

White House economic adviser Brian Deese suggested the pain at the pump was a price Americans had to pay for the "future of the liberal world order," in a CNN interview on Thursday.

"CNN Newsroom" host Victor Blackwell played a clip of President Biden telling a reporter at Thursday's NATO Summit that Americans can continue to pay a premium for gas "as long as it takes" to win the war in Ukraine.

Blackwell asked Deese how the White House would respond to Americans worried that they won't be able to survive paying close to or over $5 a gallon, potentially for "years" to come.

"The military analysts, the Director of National Intelligence say this can be a long war measured in years. I think everybody understands why this is happening. But is it sustainable? What do you say to those families that say, 'Listen, we can't afford to pay $4.85  a gallon for months, if not years. This is just not sustainable,'" Blackwell questioned.

Deese initially responded, "What you heard from the president today was a clear articulation of the stakes. This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm." The comment caused a stir on social media.

Afterwards, the White House official praised President Biden's actions to lower gas prices as the "good news."

"Good news, over the last two weeks, we've seen the price of gas at the pump come down about twenty cents but still unacceptably high," he remarked.

Deese explained the temporary federal gas tax holiday, pressure on oil companies, and a potential price cap on Russian oil were measures the president was taking to continue to "bring those prices down."

But Blackwell continued to press the Biden adviser on Americans' dissatisfaction with the administration. He cited an AP-NORC poll finding 69% of Americans disapprove of the job the president is doing on the economy and 85% are unhappy with the direction the country is going.

Deese responded that he sympathized with Americans' "frustrations" but said they needed to remember the Biden administration had made "historic economic progress" and this was a "transition."

"And also remind the American people that even as we go through this challenging period, even while we move through this transition, we also have made historic economic progress and that's not to suggest that people shouldn't feel the anxiety that they feel," he began. The Biden official touted how the United States was "better and stronger positioned" to tackle these problems.

Lightning strikes!

Inflation has been a disaster for millions of Americans. As inflation grows (highest in 40 years), fears of recession are jolting markets.

The Dow today is down 2%.

Then again, Europe is down even more.

My favorite chart for explaining the surge in inflation is M1 Money Stock around the Covid outbreak in early 2020. Which has NOT been removed.

No, this is not a real ECB currency, but it might as well be.

June Rent Delinquency Reaches New Record
Alignable ^ | Jun 29th, 2022 | Chuck Casto
Posted on 7/5/2022, 10:55:03

Alignable's June Rent Report reveals that rent delinquency rates in the U.S. have reached record levels for 2022.

This year started with an average national delinquency rate of 26%, but now that rate is up by 9% compared to January, as 35% of small businesses in the U.S. could not pay their rent in full or on time in June.

Not only is this rate 2% higher than it was last month, it’s the highest it has been this entire year.

Most small business owners attribute this worsening situation to record-breaking inflation, which includes escalating gas, labor, and supply costs. Simply put, there’s less money available to pay the rent.

What makes all of this even more challenging, is that rents alone have spiked for 48% of U.S. small businesses this month, as well. Of that group, 32% say rent is over 10% higher, and 14% say it's over 20% more than it was just six months ago.

These latest statistics are all part of the Alignable June Rent Report, released today. The report is based on a poll conducted among 4,382 randomly selected small business owners from 6/11/22 to 6/28/22.

Bad In The U.S., But Worse In Canada..

While it’s troubling that 35% of small businesses in the U.S. couldn’t pay their June rent, the situation is even more severe in Canada.

In all, 43% of small business owners there couldn’t afford to pay their rent (up 4% from 39% in May).

In terms of rent increases, 55% of Canadian small business owners say they’re required to pay more rent now than six months ago.

So, for Canadian small businesses, their rent delinquency rate is 8% higher than it is among their U.S.-based counterparts. And 7% more Canadian small businesses are paying higher rents, compared to their U.S. peers.

SMBs In Transportation Had A VERY ROUGH JUNE..

Looking at rent delinquency rates for various industries, the most alarming statistic of this entire study emerged among companies in the transportation sector, largely because of the cumulative effects of higher gas prices over the past few months.

In May, most of the taxi and limo services, Uber and Lyft drivers, and trucking companies were getting by, with just 22% saying they couldn’t pay their rent.

But now, a month later, that number has skyrocketed 41% to 63% of SMBs in the transportation industry reporting that they couldn’t afford their rent, as gas prices are too overwhelming for them.

Gas Prices Hurt Businesses In A "Very Significant" Way More than three out of four (76%) business owners in the transportation sector say gas prices have hurt their companies in “very significant” ways, as expenses surge and revenue recedes.

Beyond that, the cost of gas and other supplies for 66% of these businesses was more than 25% higher than it was prior to COVID. However, only 31% of those polled could pass along all of those costs to their customers. So, 35% can't charge what's needed to break even.

Similar scenarios are occurring across other industries this month, as the chart above shows.

The majority of small businesses in the education sector are really feeling the pinch right now, including tutors who need to travel long distances to see students. In fact, 58% of the educators in our poll said they couldn’t make rent in June, due to inflationary trends.

Musicians (50%) and artists (43%) are right behind them, as they’re also having trouble passing along increasing costs to their clients.

In several of these cases, hiring a musician to entertain at an event or paying for a piece of art are considered luxuries among cash-strapped consumers, so these creative entrepreneurs are also having more trouble earning more money. In a related poll, 64% of B2C business owners said consumers are spending less than they did even last month.

Charities & Mortgage Brokers Have More Trouble, Too It's the same story for 45% of nonprofits (up 12% from 33%), as they’re reporting fewer people are contributing to causes, as they have less disposable income. As fund-raising efforts falter, the ability to pay the rent (and other expenses) naturally becomes more challenging, too.

And as the chart below shows, 36% of mortgage lenders couldn’t pay their rent this month, which is a dramatic increase over last month where only 7% reported rent issues.

As interest rates go up and prices of homes become unaffordable for many, many mortgage lenders are having a harder time making ends meet. They've been flying high for years, but not so much this June. Perhaps that’s because 48% of the small businesses polled believe a recession is already upon us.

...

Other industries that had higher rent delinquency rates in June included construction (35% up a bit from 34%), automotive (35% up from 30%) and manufacturing (35% up from 24%).

However, there were a few silver linings this month, as rent delinquency decreased for restaurants (38% down from 41%), retailers (35% down from 40%), salons (25% down from 40%), and those in travel/lodging (24% down from 36%).

What’s The Rent Situation Geographically? Examining the data in terms of states and provinces, a few trends stand out. Before we talk about the U.S., let’s address Canada.

Rent delinquency in Alberta actually declined from May to June, which was a welcome sign. (Let’s see if that continues in July). In May, 49% of AB-based small business owners said they couldn’t pay their rent in full. But in June, that number dropped 11% to 38%.

However, some other provinces slipped deeper into rent delinquency problems.

In June, 40% of Ontario businesses couldn’t afford the rent, whereas 39% had rent issues in May. However, a more dramatic change happened in British Columbia, as only 35% of small businesses there couldn’t pay May rent, but in June, that number jumped 10% to 45%.

Even more dramatic increases in rent delinquency were found in certain U.S. states, as this chart indicates.

...

Topping the list with a high rent delinquency rate of 44%, Illinois and Texas small businesses are having the toughest time economically in this poll.

Illinois jumped a startling 17% from just 27% in May.

In Texas, the increase was 9%, from 35% to 44%.

And New Jersey also saw a 10% increase from 29% in May to 39% in June.

However, we did see some improvement with businesses in New York (down 2% to 34%), Georgia (down 3% to 37%), Massachusetts (down 7% to 35%), California (down 2% to 33%) and Florida (down 5% to 28%) in June.

Oil Group Mocks Biden’s Price Gouging Accusations: ‘Intern Who Posted This Tweet’ Should Take ‘Econ 101’
bretibart ^ | 4 Jul 2022 | PENNY STARR9
Posted on 7/5/2022, 11:15:27 AM

Joe Biden continues to deflect blame from his own energy policies for the high prices Americans are paying for gas, including by claiming gas station owners are price gouging.

“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril,” Biden tweeted on Sunday. “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.”

The U.S. Oil and Gas Association tweeted back:

“Working on it Mr. President,” the association tweeted. “In the meantime – have a Happy 4th and please make sure the WH intern who posted this tweet registers for Econ 101 for the fall semester.”

The association also tweeted about the wisdom of using America’s bountiful energy resources.

“The U.S. Capitol has the inscription: ‘Let us developed the resources of our land, call forth its powers, build up its institutions, promote all its great interests and see whether we also in our day and generation may not perform something worthy to be remembered.’ – Daniel Webster.”

And other domestic energy advocates joined the criticism, including Western Energy:

“Claim by StateDept: Oil industry has everything it needs,” Western Energy tweeted. “Reality: What we need is a partner in the Biden Admin instead of the months-long blame game & overreaching regs like the @SECGov climate disclosure rule.”

Biden has attempted to deflect blame for the increase in gas prices to Russian President Vladimir Putin, dubbing it the “Putin’s Price Hike,” a term used repeatedly by the White House, despite his campaign promise to always take responsibility and not blame others.

Little is going President Joe Biden’s way as the summer lull sets in before the crush of midterm elections.

Gas prices are up; his approval rating is down. A conservative Supreme Court majority is hacking away at his agenda by abolishing federal abortion rights and undermining environmental protections meant to curb climate change. His own party is losing patience, fearing that any chance of consequential change while Democrats control Congress is vanishing.

Brittney Griner’s Wife Calls 0ut Biden for ‘Very Disheartening’ Silence

Britney Griner’s wife said it is “very disheartening” that she still has not heard directly from President Biden, even after the WNBA star — who’s been languishing in a Russian jail — sent a handwritten letter to the president, begging him to not “forget” her.

Cherelle Griner appeared remotely on “CBS Mornings” on Tuesday, telling host Gayle King that she has decided to “not be quiet anymore” about her wife’s plight because the Biden administration so far has been unable to bring her home.

“I will find that balance of … harm versus help in pushing our government to do everything that’s possible because being quiet, they’re not moving, they’re not doing anything,” Cherelle Griner argued

White House Press Secretary is ‘Gobsmacked’ by Report US is Selling Emergency Oil Reserves to China
https://beckernews.com ^ | July 6, 2022 | by Kyle Becker
Posted on 7/6/2022, 11:20:18 AM

It is hard at this point to say exactly what Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre knows about the Biden White House. On Tuesday, she appeared to be broadsided by a question about America selling off the country’s ’emergency’ oil reserves. Watch:

“There’s a Reuters report out this morning that says that more than 5 million barrels of oil that were released from the emergency oil reserves were exported to Europe and Asia last month, and some of it reportedly was actually heading to China,” the reporter asked. “Is the administration aware of those reports? And does the President mind that some of this oil that was meant to ease pain for consumers is headed overseas?”

“I have not seen that report, so I would honestly have to go look into it and see what the truth is in that statement that you just laid out and see exactly what’s happening,” she replied. “I just have not seen that report.”

According to the Reuters report: “More than 5 million barrels of oil that were part of a historic U.S. emergency reserves release to lower domestic fuel prices were exported to Europe and Asia last month, according to data and sources, even as U.S. gasoline and diesel prices hit record highs.”

“The export of crude and fuel is blunting the impact of the moves by U.S. President Joe Biden to lower record pump prices,” the report added.

“Cargoes of SPR crude were also headed to the Netherlands and to a Reliance (RELI.NS) refinery in India, an industry source said. A third cargo headed to China, another source said,” according to the report.

“Crude and fuel prices would likely be higher if (the SPR releases) hadn’t happened, but at the same time, it isn’t really having the effect that was assumed,” Matt Smith, lead oil analyst at Kpler, told Reuters.

The Biden administration appears to be doing more that is in China’s interest than is in Americans’ interest. This latest report that the nation’s emergency oil reserves is being sold off to its enemies as many families struggle to pay their bills is just more evidence that the White House has abandoned Americans.
