Between 2005 and 2015 the sea level rose 1.4". Of course, the water level rise at the Statue of Liberty cannot be seen with the naked eye. This does not mean it hasn't happened. The rate of sea level rise has more than doubled from 0.06 inches (1.4 millimeters) per year in the 20th century to 0.14 inches (3.6 millimeters) per year from 2006–2015.

Here is some additional information as to the sea level rise visibility at the Statue of Liberty.

I really have a hard time wrapping my head around a coastal town burning to the ground while sitting next the ocean.  Same thing with Lahaina, Maui.

Some massive failures of government in both California and Hawaii.

While I'm glad people are waking up, this is not some profound concept.
