Interesting theory. What would you say is the best way for someone (a youngster) to learn manliness? Is it advertisements in comic books showing a musclebound man kicking sand in a twink's face? Is it by watching movies and television where men engage in traditional manly behavior such as cowboys or mobsters shooting at one another or seeing Steve Reeves as a Roman or a Greek of old throw impossibly heavy and large boulders at his attackers.

Maybe it is watching boxing on television with your dad. Or could it be going to work with your dad, learning a trade which comes in handy when you find yourself without a job as an adult. You know, "fathers and sons" as famously explained on Getbig.

Then there is the modern day equivalents, which I practically know nothing about, since the time for me to learn how to become manly is long gone. If I haven't learned how to do this by now....all hope is lost. Truthfully, some old folks end up being gender neutral that manliness no longer matters and nobody cares.

I imagined it was my dad's responsibility to reveal it to me....but sadly, he never did. At least not in the way I imagined it would happen. Basically, manliness had nothing to do with outer strength (physical prowess and aggression) and everything to do with inner strength, which is responsibility, patience and perseverance no matter what shit life throws your way.

To a degree, yes.  While there is less of a need there is still a strong desire among women for a man that is in fact, a Man.  When I was a bouncer in a disco I had a guy tell me that my muscles didn't matter because all he had to do was pull out his gun and shoot me.
