Persian Princess Qajar Dynasty: The Beauty Symbol in the 19th Century

Every culture has its own standards. Moreover, time also affects these standards. What is beautiful may not be so anymore. For example, in Persian culture, the definition of beauty was different from Western understanding in the 19th century. In those days, Persian Princess Qajar was the beauty symbol in Iran.

Her full name was Zahra Khanom Tadj es-Saltaneh (1883-1936). She was the daughter of the King of Persia, Naser al-Din Shah.

Beauty Standards

In the 19th century, masculine features were appreciated in women. Besides, feminine features were appreciated in men. So, women were with heavy eyebrows and mustaches. And that was attractive for that era. Because of this many women were using mascara to strengthen their features. In contrast, men were trying to be slim and delicate.

One of the comments from a woman regarding this video:

Now I understand why men loved that second princess of Iran. Because she was able to win the completion that women always had with men. She fought for her rights and that's something more than just an appearance.

It's unbelievable the delusion women have......

GACK!   With hideous bearded beasties like her, it really is a wonder their feces of a species survived breeding.

While this aberration might have happened as you claim, it doesn't mean that standards of attractiveness are purely socially determined and different cultures have nothing in common. The overwhelming trend across cultures and throughout history celebrates the exaggeration of natural traits rather than their repression and adoption of opposite sex traits.

Besides, I bet that dudes living there at the time tacitly acknowledged that the king's daughter was a fucking dog, but you don't say that or you get your head lopped off. It's entirely possible this 'beauty trend' never even took off and you're mistaking the king's decree for daily reality. Kings and Emperors have a habit of proclaiming that the glowing orb in the daytime sky is the moon and everyone has to say Yep, sho' 'nuff.
