I think when a country not having borders and limiting free speech to the extent we've seen(just quick examples...there are many more) becomes a major party's platform that could be the reason.

I donno.  I see extreme-ness on both sides.  And Both sides use those peeps to demonize the less extreme.  IMO The open border problem is easily solved, but both sides ignore the truth of it and don't have the balls to do what's needed.  We don't need an overpriced ineffective wall.  Go after the companies that employ undocumented workers.

Twitter, FB, Instagram, etc are businesses, are not government entities.  That's the beauty of a capitalistic free market.  If you don't like it, patronize something else.   I am sure that's what conservatives would say if the roles were reversed.

Social media is the new print medium. There was journo integrity as well as laws like libel and slander that protected people from what we see now.

Should a small site like getbig be subject to extra scrutiny like a utility? No....but a platform with millions of users where the platform actively is shaping and cancelling information should.

I hate to say it but people are really too stupid to defend themselves from the onslaught of information that we have access to now.

Also, STILL waiting on how the current dem platform benefits normal tax paying middle class people...the "moderate democrats"...other than offering some ghostly level of virtue or satisfying white guilt. There is never an answer for why it is good to give the future of your family away for the sake of a political whim.

It is a physical as well as mental barrier that shows intent. Saying we need to check countless businesses for aliens while supporting the party of present flowing open borders is just backwards as it gets. Then you find them and deport them right? No? What? Explained my take on large social media being like the large trusted newspapers of the past in prior post. Yes, very much I'm in favor of letting the market settle things but I think people are being unduly harmed by social media and that media is in the tank for a party with very questionable motives.

I hear the left talk about conservative dominance of talk radio while 95% of everything else is touting daily things that would be unimaginably left wing just 10-15 years ago.

What I'm saying is there are no norms or standards of reporting on these huge platforms where nearly everybody is getting their information. Worse yet, these platforms are activist in nature without making their "customers"(which is not what they actually are while being data mined to hell and back) aware.

It's not good enough to say it doesn't matter. Of course it's two sides of the same coin but look at the cap gains tax coming and tell me about how it doesn't matter when you have to sell your parents house and get hit with a 32% rate.

yes and no.  You wouldn't check every business.  But much like a state audit, it can happen by surprise any time and the penalties would be huge to the point it could put that business out of business.
