So it's safe to say that bodybuilding maxed out in what I call "The Chemical Era" of Bodybuilding [late Ironage - which started when Dorian started winning his Sandows].
I think Ronnie Coleman at the 2003 Mr. Olympia contest was, IMO, the most dominant bodybuilder ever. That version of Ronnie beats any bodybuilder in any bodybuilding contest ever, in all of bodybuilding history, ranging from the early Ironage [Eugene Sandow era] all the year through to "Early Ironage" [when Arnold won his Sandows], through to the "Middle Ironage" [when Lee Haney won his Sandows], all the way through to the very late Ironage era - the current era [when Brandon Curry when his Mr. Olympia title].
The human body can only grow so much. If bodies get pushed any further, there will simply be more steroid-related deaths - essentially "steroid overdose deaths", as we saw with Dallas McCarver.
