188 lb. sammir beat a 230 haney. even though haney did eventually have his record win streak, back then guys main concerns were quality muscle gains & enlargement with weight being a secondary issue. even though there is some correlation between body weight and muscle mass, those guys kept average or at least above average weights while still having extremely large muscle mass. they looked heavier than they were.
i started lifting over 6 years ago & had a friend that wanted to train too, (he didn't last more than 1 month, as most people tend to do when it comes to weight training) from the start he said his goal was (he was about 135 at the time) to be 230lbs, but be shredded and ripped to look like he was 180. that never made any sense to me, still doesn't. at the time I might have been about 115-118 so thinking for shorter term reachable goals i said i would rather be 180 and look like i'm 230. well i'm close to 190 now, with high end single digit body fat (8 or 9%), and i still have the same mentality, although 230 is now attainable as a somewhat short term goal, i rather just break 200 and see from there.
