Hunter and gatherers consumed "cheese & cream"? Nope, I don't think so...
You are correct.
However, cheese and cream, butter are animal products, high in fat and practically zero carbs.
Healthy oils are also high in fat and low to zero carbs.
Eating in this way is very satiating and lowers the hunger impulse.
The hunter/gatherer diet is meat, animal products, nuts, seeds, berries, etc.
Corn, wheat, the staples of the western diet affect insulin and blood sugar levels greatly and increase the hunger impulse.
The typical diet of high carb, multiple meals every day (bodybuilder 6-8 meals a day) has your pancreas in overdrive to maintain a normal blood sugar level. Leads to Type 2 diabetes.
You can lose weight and maintain it by eating high carbs and a low calorie diet but you will be miserable and hungry all the time. The failure rate on these types of diets is very high, over 90%. Like maintaining a bodybuilder pre-contest diet.
