There are enzymes (I think that is what they are called) in the blood that are indicative of one having had a heart attack.  Perhaps that is what he is talking about?

Good vid, Bhanky, but why didn't you squat 405?

A couple issues. I have a large Paraesophageal  hiatal and a small umbilical Hernia. The hiatal hernia can be life threatening if the abdomen pressure from a squat causes the entire stomach to move into the chest cavity. Also they didn't have a squat pad. I put 225 on the bar and got underneath it and remembered why people use squat pads. As such I opted to try the leg press machine instead. I ordered a body solid Manta Ray Squat attachment today. However I am not sure I should be doing heavy squats with 2 hernias regardless.  But going to try some lighter squats and see how it feels when the attachment shows up. Just because I have a hernia doesn't mean my legs are not strong. My legs are strong the leg press felt good. The squat bar did not feel great on my shoulders though so ordered the attachment will try next week.

My buddy had one in college they do make the bar much more comfortable and prevent it from moving around on your shoulders. I know that isn't hard core but comfort also matters and it seems safer as it is locked into place

If you build a bigger back you won't need the maxi pad for your squats.

You be hardcore and crush a vertebrae in your neck. The Manta is not a pad it is hard plastic it keeps the bar from rolling. I used to ride crotch rockets now I ride a Harley comfort matters.

Maybe GYMNJUICE should tell him to stop being a pussy and build a bigger back so he doesn't have to use a maxi pad to squat

The way I see it I left my house and went to the bigger gym at my club.
I found the squat rack.
I actually did some leg presses.
I played 9 holes of golf and got a par
I had the veal
I had sexy time with my girl
I ordered an attachment to try the squat rack next time.

That is progress

You think if he didn't have the pad he wouldn't do squats at all?  You're the one saying you could do 405 and then quitting when you felt 225 without your maxi pad. It's weak sauce bro. It needs to be called out. Accountability.

1/2 mile jog

Last time I did 40 yard wind sprints about two years ago I partially tore my Achilles.  I'm in my 60's and thought after doing a slow mile warm up I was good to go for sprinting. I was a sprinter in college. First three I was shocked how fast I felt. I know I was going at a really good clip. The third I shut down when I felt slight pain in my Achilles. It was a bigger injury than I initially thought. I had problems for over a year with that leg.  I couldn't do a slow jog for about a month.  Now I seem to be good but I am cautious.  I haven't sprinted since. Only logged short miles at a slow pace like 9 minute miles. Currently working on regaining my speed. Just wanted to tell this story because we are all one rep and one step away from damage. You never know.

I think the same thing happened to _aj_

I have had bouts of achilles soreness off and on, and am concerned about that type of injury.  Other than focusing on mobility and such, I'm not sure what to do.

You are probably correct that the half mile probably wasn't ideal for a warmup......I know better, and need to focus more in this area.

I will say that my treadmill maxes at 10mph, which I don't find very strenuous for intervals, so maybe not maxing out is a bit safer.....but who knows?

I think the trick is for all out sprints is a slow warm up of a half to a mile slow jog.  Then a complete series of slowly increasing the speed. Say you are doing 10 x 40 yard sprints. The first five should be a gradual increase in speed till you hit top gear on set 5 or 6.  If you are in your 20's or 30's my advice might not apply.  In college I would jog a quarter mile then begin my sprint intervals from 330 yards down to 100 yards at 100% each set.  I'm really thinking of the someone in their late 40's, 50's and 60's. If I could sprint in my 70's I would be shocked.  A 10MPH is a six minute mile. That really isn't sprinting.

LOL!

What a bunch of excuses.

You will never squat 405.

You do bodyweight squats for "leg mass".

Fuck off.
