They have to be fucking with you on this. Anyone who knows anything knows it’s harder to curl when you cant move your body. I usually curl standing against a pole or wall then to continue the set I step away from said pole or wall and get double the reps I did against.

by cheating, yes, thats the point, if you stepped away from the wall before failure and tried to do a rep without cheating you would fail, now get back against the wall and I bet you can get another couple reps

That is what makes it so much more difficult than just standing and doing a curl as your body will absolutely move regardless of the weight used. You think rob and I have never done a standing barbell curl? You think we are just making it up when we say it is harder against a wall? Try it and find out nope just keep doing geometry with a pen and protractor and explaining it wrong morons

It's totally plausible to do a strict curl without a wall. At the gym tonight, I picked up a 20 pound barbell and strict curled it without moving my upper body at all. That automatically proves that one can do a strict curl without a wall.

Using a wall for a strict curl allows you to use more weight because it's providing support for the movement--that is, you can brace yourself and tense yourself and the wall will keep you straight--try that same weight without a wall and you will learn real quickly that the weight is actually too heavy for a strict curl.

It would seem that a true strict curl would be not to use a wall and only move your arms from the start to the finish position, which would be exceptionally hard, but not impossible, without the bracing of a wall. I suspect that most peoples weights on the strict curl would drop at least 25+ pounds ore more without a wall.

I am not too sure why BHANKS cannot understand this.

Why do I need to argue with anyone about what is and isn’t a strict curl or is a clearly defined competitive lift and I do it twice a week you think I don’t warm up without the wall first? It’s a lot harder with a wall. I don’t need to argue what I already know all day long

So wouldn’t be so nice and kind of you to show us how to do standard standing barbell curl with 150 lbs, which I am sure will enlighten and encourage us to train hard with our arms.
