I just don't care that much
I already have plenty in retirement and even more in non-retirement accounts.
I do have an HSA which I also max out every year
Honestly, I'm not that motivated by money or things. I've got more than enough to be comfortable.
Good for you!
You do care however, enough to invest a 43k into your retirement account and to max out your HSA every year.
You already pay your CPA for services and professional advice. Maybe you ought to listen to him/her about tax efficient strategies now to avoid serious mistakes that will come back to hunt you later in retirement.
Taxes, high investment fees, and inflation will quickly erode your nest egg, especially in retirement when you are drawing from your accounts. You don't want to run out of money before you die, or end up having to eat cat food.
I don't believe Social Security and Medicare are going to go bankrupt anytime soon, but they are not looking good at the moment. I believe at the very least benefits will be reduced for generation X and later generations.
Do you donate to charity, do you have a DAF?
