My Hunt for the Original McDonald’s French-Fry Recipe-
« on: October 07, 2021, 07:26:14 AM »
https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/original-mcdonalds-french-fry-recipe

Someone here recently brought up how food tastes different.  Someone else called them an old fool whose taste buds were fried, and said that's why chain restaurants heavily salt their food.  But there is a difference between how food was prepared a couple of decades ago.

McDonald's fries were different

Lee with the blonde hair was (to me) in the best phase of his career ever.  Before the shitty ink addiction and weirdness.

McDonald’s french fries are soaked in sugar water before they are frozen.

When they outlawed trans fats they had to change the cooking oil.

I like Fanta soda. I just noticed they chaged the recipe, only 7 grams of sugar instead of about 10. Tastes like shit. They are trying to make us healthier but killing the enjoyment  :D

But now some say the beef tallow was healthier.  The potatoes are the bad part.

Wendy’s had awesome fries and chicken nuggets until around 2007 when they got rid of the trans fat oil.

30 years ago Carl’s Jr. had a sandwich containing sliced roast beef, Monterey jack cheese, and roasted Anaheim chilis. They called it the California Roast Beef Sandwich.

I miss it to this day.

I think one of the biggest things about these old foods is that they stayed "crispy". McDonald's fries are soggy within minutes of taking them out, same as for Wendys.

No one ate any of it because it was healthy. Trans fats/seed oils/whatever don't matter to many who eat at these places. It used to be a cheap place to consume calories or grab something quick.

My favorite these days has to be 5 Guys but their shit is expensive. Around $8 for a double cheeseburger plain. Fries are good but get soggy by the time you get home and are fried in peanut oil.
