I'm guessing Tony will be Haitian, maybe? A lot of that film was about the immigrant underworld experience, you lose that, you lose a lot. It becomes another rise to the top dope film. The reboot has been bouncing around for near a half decade now, with Latin actors attached to it, most notably, Diego Luna. It's also gone through a bunch of script doctoring including some by the Coen brothers.
The director now is a gay Italian that works mostly in horror and artsy projects, so who knows, maybe Tony will be getting mussy from a stud in this one

The sad thing is, even if it's halfway decent, people will still hate it because it's screwing with a classic. For instance, the black Wonder Years reboot is actually pretty good, but every time I see it, I go "uh, why couldn't this have had a different name".
Oh well, at least Carlito's Way is safe for now.
