She and her siblings immigrated to the U.S. at the same time. The fellow was a British citizen. After they married, he went to university in the U.S. something he could have done anyway. After they separated he returned to Britain to live. If he was her brother that alone would have allowed him to gain citizenship in the U.S.

Granted she's had a messy and complicated love/marriage life in that she had three children by a man she was not legally married to, although they later married and divorced. She married Tim Mynett in 2020 whom she was rumored to have had an affair with while he was still married to another woman.
