A 1928 tommy gun in a violin case.  The idea of a gangster using a violin case to transport a Tommy gun is primarily a myth popularized by 1930s movies and media, rather than a verified historical action attributed to one specific person. While often associated with Prohibition-era gangsters and Capone-era lore, experts suggest violins were generally too small for the weapon, with larger viola or guitar cases being more likely candidates, if used at all.

The Erfurt latrine disaster occurred on July 26, 1184, when the floor of a building in Erfurt collapsed under the weight of nobles attending a meeting, sending many into a cesspit below. Approximately 60 to 100 people died, either from injuries sustained in the fall or by drowning in the sewage

The breaking wheel, also known as the Catherine wheel, a torture and execution device used in Europe from the Middle Ages into the early modern period.  It was primarily used for public execution by shattering the limbs of the condemned using an iron bar before they were woven into the wheel for display. The device served as a brutal form of capital punishment, designed to prolong death and act as a public spectacle to instill fear.  This form of punishment was abolished in various European regions during the 19th century, with the last known execution by wheel occurring in 1841.
